Significantly Imperfect

Communication is significantly imperfect, be it imperfectly significant or not. Like a mirror,

communication's significance depends on which side one is facing; to see the reflection and the
purpose or to see nothing but grayness. In additional, communication should be acceptably
right in order for the communicator to be, also, acceptably right. But what if being right and
acceptable are missing? Does it mean that one is seeing the reflection of distortions rather than
corrections? Does it excuse anyone from being wrong or does it make the whole nation fight for
their diversed perspective eventhough the leader, who should be right at situations, is the
mastermind of the scenarios? Does communication should be acceptably right for everyone or
just for himself? Or does communication a leisure where error is an expected outcome?

A good communicator means a good leader, and a good leader means a good follower. But
despite the fact that mistakes are bound to happen, one should atleast learn to diminish them
in order to be qualified as a good one.

On one of the speeches that the President of the Pearl of the Orient Seas said during the
Proclamation Rally of the ruling Party PDB-Laban, "Hold-up-in ninyo 'yung Obispo ninyo, marami
pera 'yan. Kapag lumaban, patayin mo. Maglibing tayo ng Obispo..." These phrases trigger the
faithful community of the country, for the speech was intended only for the Roman Catholics.
Aside from his famed name, of course, his speeches will mark the history of the Philippines, and
that is the main reason why his style of communication shows it lacks ethics. Why? It is because
it did not follow all of the basic Ethics of Communication, but most of all, it offends the third and
most serious Ethics which is stated as: "Condemn communication that degrades individuals and
humanity through distortion, intimidation, coercion, and violence and through the expression of
intolerance and hatred."

The way how his mouth opened and degraded respectable individuals who are chosen to be
real servants of God is unethical. There are three factors why he became unethical: first is
emotionally, second is morally, last is spiritually. First, the whole Roman Catholic in the country
by heart and by soul are still being affected by it. It made the Bishops of the country afraid of
what will happen to their lives because it is their lives which are at danger for just a phrase.
Look how powerful communication is, it can kill emotionally. Secondly, morally. Aside from the
fact that everyone knew what right or wrong is, everyone should still choose what is rights
among various of wrongs. And it made Duterte more unethical than before. He did not only
destroy the name of the Roman Catholic but he also created troops that can wholly ruin the
entire sect of Christianity. Look how destroying the words are. Lastly, spiritually. Using the
perspective of a Roman Catholic servant, President denies God for more than ten times since he
began his speeches. And it is the most offending part of his speech, he intended to disrespect
the presence of God on every Catholic in the Philippines, more importantly, to His Bishops.
It is acceptable that everyone is practicing unethical communication because they have no ideas
on how to communicate ethically, but it is not tolerable for someone who holds the highest seat
in the country for he might only influence those who are believing in him. Communication is
vital, and it needs to be ethical or acceptable, otherwise, the whole country or world will be
chaotic. It needs to be nurtured with good things and honed with positive skills, and one day, it
might be a good help for everyone. Lastly, use communication significantly imperfect, do not
use it to fill the world full of wrath with hatred, fill everyone they deserved happiness, afterall,
everyone is full of anger, and it is the time to fill the world with smiles.
