TYPES OF CLAIMS

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are
expected to:
∎differentiate the different types of claim;
∎ classify statement according to its type;and
∎ formulate a statement for each type of claim.

wants to say as a result of
his/her thinking, reading or
writing.

 CLAIM OF FACT
states a quantifiable assertion or a
measurable topic
not necessarily a fact
asserts a stand regarding a debatable
topic
uses sufficient, accurate, and recent
evidence
