Abstract— The proposed system aids to control malpractices which are present in ration shop by replacing manual work
with automatic system based on RFID and GSM. The Purpose of project is monitoring distribution of goods in ration shop
using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology that replaces conventional ration cards. Every consumer i.e. family
head is provided with RFID card which acts as ration card. The RFID card has unique identification number along with
details of the consumer. Customer’s database is stored in microcontroller which is provided by Government Authority.
Customer needs to scan tag to RFID reader, and then microcontroller checks customer’s details with stored database. After
successful verification, customer needs to enter type of material as well as quantity of material using keypad. Then the
microcontroller sends the information to customer as well as PDS authorities using Global System for Mobile (GSM)
technology. The proposed RFID based automatic ration shop system would bring transparency in public distribution system.

I. INTRODUCTION
Public Distribution System is government administered chain of shops which distributes groceries at
subsidized rates. There are about 5,00,000 ration shops across India. In India over 54 crore people are getting
benefited by public distribution system. The major groceries distributed are rice, wheat, kerosene, sugar etc. It
has achieved to prevent deaths due to hunger.
The objectives of Public Distribution System are:
1. To provide groceries at low prices to the vulnerable sections of the society.
2. To influence the price of groceries in open market.
Ration card is an official document entitling the owner to a ration of groceries. One card per family is
S.No. Item Name Actual Price (per kg/ltr) Subsidized Price(kg/ltr)
1 Rice 20 1
2 Wheat 40 7
3 Kerosene 38 19
4 Sugar 42 13.50
issued by the state government for people under poverty line. People having ration card can buy the groceries
from ration shop for subsidized rates fixed by the Government. In the ration shop, first we need to submit the
ration card and then it is authenticated. Then they will issue the quantity of groceries eligible through weighting
system manually. Then they will record the details. But this system is having two draw backs, first one is chance
of forgery and second no transparency to customers.
In this project, we propose ration materials distribution based on GSM and RFID Technology to avoid
the drawbacks. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) based access control system allows only authorized or
responsible persons to get the materials from ration shops. RFID card acts as ration card and stores the name and
phone number of the customer and can avoid forgery and theft. GSM is used to communicate the information
with cardholders to provide transparency.
A. OBJECTIVE
The objective of the designed system is to provide transparency and avoid forgery in ration shops.
Forgery can be avoided by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which replaces
conventional ration cards by RFID tags.
The microcontroller sends the information to customer using Global System for Mobile (GSM)
technology which would create transparency in the system.
B. EXISTING SYSTEM
India’s Public Distribution System (PDS) is the largest distribution network in the world.
There are about 5,00,000 ration shops across India. In India over 54 crore people are getting benefited by public
distribution system. The major groceries distributed are rice, wheat, kerosene, sugar etc. It has achieved to
reduce hunger deaths in India.
The objectives of Public Distribution System are:
1. To provide groceries at low prices to the vulnerable sections of the society.
2. To influence the price of groceries in open market.
Ration card is a politician document entitling the owner to a ration of groceries. One card per family is
issued by the government for folks below poverty level. Folks having card should purchase the groceries from
ration buy backed rates fastened by the govt. within the ration search, initial we want to submit the card then it's
documented. Then they'll issue the number of groceries eligible through weight system manually. Then they'll
record the small print. however, this method has 2 draw backs, initial one is likelihood of forgery and second no
transparency to customers.
The responsibility of distributing food grains lies with the govt. the main groceries distributed are rice,
wheat, kerosene…. etc. the most objective of Public distribution system is to supply groceries at low costs to the
vulnerable sections of the society and to influence the value of groceries in open market. Public Distribution
System ( PDS ) faces the challenges like quality of food grains and inaccurate identification of card
holders. Within the existing system one card per family is issued by the government for folks below poverty
level. Card holders can get the groceries from ration buy backed rates fastened by the government. Each family
below poverty level is eligible for fifteen kilo of food grains. Within the ration search, initial we want to submit
the card then it's documented. Then they'll issue the number of groceries eligible through weight system
manually. Then they'll record the small print. This technique is inaccurate, tedious and should generally result to
malpractices.
C. SCOPE OF WORK
RFID tag replaces the ration cards during this project. We tend to are storing the name and signalling of
the client within the RFID tag. Thanks to low memory of microcontroller details of solely 3 customers are kept.
Once the tag is browsing by the RFID reader name and signalling of the person is displayed on the LCD screen.
Then the desired product and amount has got to tend through input device. In real time a message is distributed
to the client through GSM.
We can store all the small print of the client like Aadhar range, annual financial gain, family details etc
within the tags. Attributable to the memory constraint of microcontroller, we tend to are having solely 3 identity
card holders. This memory constraint may be eliminated by victimization servers having giant memory to store
customer's data. Once there's shortage of groceries at ration look in real time data may be sent to authorities by
short message service. We will conjointly produce an internet site to show the small print of consumers and
therefore the groceries they took.
This chapter in short explains regarding the hardware elements of the project. It discusses the planning
and dealing of the planning with the assistance of diagram thoroughly. It explains the options, timer
programming, serial communication, interrupts of 8052 microcontroller. It conjointly explains the assorted
modules utilized in this project.

The microcode implementation of the project here is done through Keil µVision Software.
B. Proload
Proload is computer code that accepts solely hex files. Once the computer code is reborn into hex code, that hex
code needs to be drop into the microcontroller and this can be done by the Proload. Proload could be a computer
user that itself contains a microcontroller in it apart from the one that is to be programmed. This microcontroller
incorporates a program in it written in such some way that it accepts the hex file from the Keil compiler and
dumps this hex file into the microcontroller that is to be programmed. because the Proload computer user kit
needs power provide to be operated, this power provide is given from the facility provide circuit designed on top
of. It ought to be noted that this computer user kit contains an influence provide section within the board itself
however so as to change on its power provide, a supply is needed. so, this can be accomplished from the facility
provide board with AN output of 12volts.
C. Conclusion
The procedure of victimization Keil computer code with pictures and therefore the proload computer
code that is employed to dump the hex code into microcontroller is delineate within the on top of chapter.

The Electronic Distribution of products In Ration search is predicated on GSM and RFID Technology that is
employed for Ration materials distribution in ration retailers. ab initio everybody is provided associate RFID
Card, rather than a card. If the client must get any ration material, the user needs to show the ration RFID tag
card to the RFID reader, the reader can acknowledge the RFID numbers show by the user. Every user can have a
novel variety, that isn't visible to the user. This recognized RFID variety are given to a microcontroller, that
compared the input variety with the info. Before beginning the system, the distinctive RFID variety of the ration
user are programmed within the controller, like User name and watchword., in order that the controller can
acknowledge the information coming back from RFID by scrutiny with the info. Once the user is known, the
ration things to be distributed are displayed on the LCD screen, the user needs to feed the comments like the
load he's planning to purchase. because the dispensing method goes on at the same time the controller can send a
command to GSM electronic equipment, to send the text SMS to the user concerning the ration item, he or she
purchased.
V. CONCLUSION
A. Conclusion
The card is replaced by good RFID card and user is echoed to avoid forgery and sensible stealing. This planned
project would produce transparency within the system by causing a message to the client.
B. Future Scope
•We will improve the memory and might store the info of all customers.
•If there's a shortage of groceries, data is sent to each government authorities and therefore the card holders
exploitation GSM technology.
•We will evidence the RFID cards with passwords. We can improve the client satisfaction by rising the
protection.
•We will produce a web site to show the small print of consumers and therefore the groceries they took.
