Report: UV-3600 Plus UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer from
Shimadzu
Introduction
Spectrophotometers were originally developed for the absorption
measurement of liquid samples. In recent years, however, high-
precision, high-energy spectrophotometers have hit the market due to
the rapid increase in reflection and absorption measurements on solid
samples, including semiconductors, films, glass, and absorbing materials.
In the meantime, the field of life sciences demands high-throughput
analyzers offering high-sensitivity and high-speed measurement of ultra-
trace samples. Now Shimadzu’s UV-3600 Plus UV-VIS-NIR
spectrophotometer can be used for this purpose. It consists of latest
technology to achieve high sensitivity, high resolution and an ultra-low
stray light level. It offers scientists an opportunity to provide high-
performance analyses in a wealth of application areas, including:
materials science, including photovoltaic, electronics, optical coatings,
and textiles; food science; pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and life sciences;
and chemicals.
High Sensitivity:
The UV-3600 Plus provides precise transmittance or reactance
measurements in the ultraviolet to near-infrared regions. The level of
sensitivity in the near-infrared region is significantly enhanced by using
the combination of an InGaAs detector and a cooled PbS detector for
this region. Spectra can be obtained without interruption for the entire
range, with a high level of sensitivity and precision.
Optional software:
Measurement
Precautions:
1. UV-light can cause temporary or permanent loss of vision and
sunburn. To prevent exposure do not install in any application
that allows exposure of UV-Light
2. Do not install in out doo application
3. Do not install in humid place
4. Do not install in a closet grill application
5. Do not expose wiring or plastic parts to UV-light because it can
cause degradation.
