Time: 3 hrs. Max. Marks: 80

2. Any revealing of identification, appeal to evaluator and /or equations written eg, 42+8 = 50, will be treated as malpractice.

Note: 1. Answer any FIVE full questions, choosing one full question from each module.
2. Use of codes is permitted.

Module-1

4 A 4 storey RC frame is shown in Fig.Q.4 is in zone IV. The soil is assumed to be harder and
building is to be used for general purpose. Determine base shear and distribution as storey
shear as per IS1893. Assume SMRC infill wall 250mm thick including plaster in transverse
direction and 150mm in longitudinal direction. Depth of slab 100mm thick, size of column
250  450mm, size of beam 250mm  400mm in transverse direction and 250mm  350mm
in longitudinal direction, floor height is 3.5m, specific weight of RCC is 25kN/m3 and
specific weight of infill is 20 kN/m3. Live load is 3.5 kN/m2. (16 Marks)

fm = 10Mpa Seismic force at roof level H = 30kN no super imposed load is applied on the
wall. (10 Marks)

typical failure modes in masonry structure? (06 Marks)
b. Determine the lateral force on a two storey unreinforced brick masonry building shown in
Fig.Q.6(b) situated near Allahabad (zone III) for the following data:
Plane size = 18  8m
Height of building = 6.2m
Storey height = 3.1m

7 A simple one storey building has two shear walls in each directions are shown in Fig.Q.7. It
has some gravity columns that are not shown. All four walls are in M25 grade concrete.
200mm thick 5m long the storey height is 4m. The floor consists of cast in sit reinforced
concrete. Design shear force on the building 200kN in either direction. Compute design
