Christianity

Founding Person/Place

In wondering about the founder of Christianity, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is an excellent answer, "Now,
brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you
have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you.
Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on
the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 makes it clear -- Jesus Christ is the
founder of Christianity.

It is Jesus' death that paid the penalty for the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:8; 1
John 2:2). It was Jesus' resurrection that ensures personal resurrection and eternal life to all those
who believe in Him (1 Corinthians 15:12-34). Ephesians 2:20 teaches us that Christianity was "built
on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone."

Jesus commissioned the apostles to spread Christianity throughout the world (Matthew 28:18-
20; Acts 1:8) -- but it was Jesus Himself who "founded" Christianity with His death, shed blood, and
resurrection from the dead (Revelation 5:9-10).
Much of what scholars know about Jesus comes from the New Testament of the Christian Bible.
According to the text, Jesus was born to a young Jewish virgin named Mary in the town of
Bethlehem, south of Jerusalem in modern-day Palestine

Beliefs in God

Christians believe that there is only one God, whom they call Father as Jesus Christ taught them.
They recognize Jesus as the son of God and believe God functions as a Trinity.
Holy Books

The Christian holy book is the Bible. It is divided into the Old and New Testaments. The New
Testament explains how God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to restore the broken relationship
between people and God which had been caused by human wrong doing. While the old testament,
the first part of the Christian Bible, comprising thirty-nine books and corresponding
approximately to the Hebrew Bible. Most of the books were originally written in Hebrew, some in
Aramaic, between about 1200 and 100 BC. They comprise the chief texts of the law, history,
prophecy, and wisdom literature of the ancient people of Israel.

Code of Conduct

Prayer in the Christian life is the connection between our heavenly Father and us. We
praise God and thank Him for His goodness. There are no timetables for prayer. You
can connect with God any time and pray because our Father opens his hands to us day
and night. There is no limit to his mercy.

A clean body is not the issue. The issue is a clean heart. Jesus said, “Woe to you,
teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You are like whitewashed tombs,
which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside is full of dead men’s bones and
everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous
but inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.” (Mathew 23: 27-28) We come to
the throne of God by faith with a clean heart and simply tell Him our concerns and
needs, and trust Him to answer our prayer in Jesus’ name.

Afterlife

Many religions, whether they believe in the soul's existence in another world likeChristianity,
Islam and many pagan belief systems, or in reincarnation like many forms of Hinduism and
Buddhism, believe that one's status in the afterlife is a reward or punishment for their conduct
during life.

Other belief/Facts

Christians believe in justification by faith - that through their belief in Jesus as the Son of God, and
in his death and resurrection, they can have a right relationship with God whose forgiveness was
made once and for all through the death of Jesus Christ
