labeled diagram of the model.
Illustrate the working of the
model.
Name of the theme: THERMOELECTRIC TORCH

INTRODUCTION

(i) Purpose As we all know that it is scientifically proven

that ENERGY can neither be created, nor be
destroyed. Being aware of this fact, we still face
the crisis of shortage of energy resources. So,
it’s time to think of some alternatives.
Therefore, we as a team present an idea to
overcome this problem. Our model, “THE
THERMOELECTRIC TORCH” converts heat
energy (body heat) to electricity. The main aim
is to use heat energy as an alternative of
electricity.

(ii) Scientific Principle Involved The THERMOELECTRIC EFFECT is the direct

conversion of temperature difference to electric
voltage by a THERMOELECTRIC MODULE.

DESCRIPTION

(i) Materials Used A waste torch(body), Thermoelectric modules, A

47 ohm resistor, A mosfet, An LED bulb,
Connecting wires.
(ii) Construction and Working Peltier Tiles were mounted on the aluminum
tube and placed inside a PVC pipe with a cut
for the peltiers. The Hollow space inside the
tube allows to pass the air currents freely. So
the Flashlight can be divided as the two
medium the outer area and the inner area of
the tube.

(iii) Applications (if applicable) Applications for thermoelectric modules cover a

wide spectrum of product areas. These include
equipment used by military, medical,
industrial, consumer, scientific/laboratory, and
telecommunications organizations. Uses range
from simple food and beverage coolers for an
afternoon picnic to extremely sophisticated
temperature control systems in missiles and
space vehicles.

Unlike a simple heat sink, a thermoelectric

cooler permits lowering the temperature of an
object below ambient as well as stabilizing the
temperature of objects which are subject to
widely varying ambient conditions. A
thermoelectric cooler is an active cooling
module whereas a heat sink provides only
passive cooling.
