EATS TAPES, WON'T EJECT (FOUND T-REEL TORQUE TO BE LOW)
SYMPTOMS
The customer complains that the unit eats tapes, or the tape won't eject.
Unit does not fail on the bench, and examination of the unit does not
reveal any absolute cause of the problem. However, the take-up reel
torque measures low (approx. 2 g/cm) and is therefore suspected to be
the cause of the customers' problems. New reels received from Kansas
City also measure low torque.
RESOLUTION
Disassemble the T/U reel and expand the spring so that the torque
increases to a more typical level (6 - 8 g/cm).
The info. for this FPR was submitted by Bill Steingraber of the N.E. RRC.

NO LCD PICTURE (FOUND CN303 PULLED LOOSE FROM PD-67 BOARD)
SYMPTOMS
The wire harness to CN303 on the PD-67 board was not drawn far enough
into the LCD cabinet at the time of manufacture. This caused the plug to
be pulled loose from CN303 when the customer rotated the LCD panel for
self-shooting. Have seen this problem sporadically in the past on other
models, but the problem is starting to be seen fairly frequently on this
model.
RESOLUTION
Pull the harness fully into the cabinet, reinsert connector.
SYMPTOMS
No part numbers listed in service manual for ref 221 (flex connector), and
ref 218 (CN98 board).
RESOLUTION
Part number A-7072-518-A is for the CN98 board. Part number 1-776-863-

SMEARED EE - VIDEO; <EVF FLEX DAMAGED BY THE CCD IC PINS>
SYMPTOMS
Recurring prob with this model. The evf ribbon is routed in a large loop
and when unit is assembled the ribbon rubs on the ccd imager pins. These
pins being very sharp will rub thru the foil after a period of time when
raising and lowering EVF. Symptoms is intermittent smeared EE video. If
you squeeze the case or disassemble the cabinet, the problem clears up.
RESOLUTION
Reroute cable and tape against cabinet half allowing for some travel.

INTERMITTENT REEL ERRORS; ADD TAPE TO LS CHASSIS FLEX
SYMPTOMS
Intermittent reel erros. Problem often caused by the ribbon cable on the ls
chassis beng shorted out by the cassette compartment when it is closed.
The problem occurs in the corner where the ribbon cable takes a 90
degree turn right by S002/cc lock.
RESOLUTION
Add a small piece of electrical tape over the flex cable. This wil prevent it
from being shorted out. If ribbon cable is severed it must be replaced.
Many techs try to resolve this intermittent problem by changing the senors,
goosenect, reel talbe, etc. If they change the ls assembly the problem
may reoccur in a short time if the ribbon is not
