DEFINITION OF TERMS

Dressmaking- is defined as the craft of sewing clothes and dresses.


Facing- is fabric used to finish the raw edges of a garment such as at
neckline and armhole.
Fusible interfacing- commonly referred to as simply “fusible” it is an
interfacing fabric with glue or both sides that is ironed on to either a lining,
Facing or body fabric to provide structure.
Seam allowance- is the area between the edge of fabric and stitching line
on two (or more) pieces of material being stitched together.
Seam ripper- is a small tool used for unpicking or cutting stitches.
Seam stress- is a woman who sews and finishes garments, as contrasted
with a dressmaker.
Sewing machines- are now made for a broad range of specialized sewing
purpose, such as quilting machines, heavy duty machines for sewing thicker
(such as leather), computerized machines raw edge of fabric.
Pattern and fitting- garment constraction is usually guided by a pattern. A
pattern can be quite simple; some pattern are nothing more than a
mathematical formula than the sewer calculates based on the intended
waerer’s measurement.
Tailor- is a person who makes repairs, or alters clothing professionallu,
especially suits and men’s clothing.
STATEMAMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This research will study about the “Effect of lack of equipment and
Facilities for senior high school dressmaking student during academic year
(2018-2019)”

Specifically, it sough to answer the following:

1. Profile of respondents in terms of:


1.1 Age;
1.2 Gende; and
1.3 Year level ?

2. What are the effect of lack of equipment in senior high school


dressmaking student of Culiat H.S ?

3. What are the advantages of dressmaking strand ?

4. What are the necessary skills become Dressmaking student ?

5. How may the lack of Equipment facility can be resolve to have


recommendation and solution the problem.
ABSTRACT

We conduct this Research about “Effect of lack of Equipment and


Facility in Senior High School student During the Academic year 2018-2019

This topic will be a big help to the student in the culiat, they will know
that need to aware of effect of lack of Equipment, they will also found out
of what equipment should do to solve the problem of lack of equipment. In
this research, it show negative effect of lack of equipment to the student
who are studying dressmaking and also the teacher will effect of this
problem. Have an equipment and facilities has an effect to those student
because it will cause limits their knowledge and it will cause of delay in that
situation. Equipment is aslo that needs in the school to those student .

Therefore the researcher student studied the effect of lack of


equipment in culiat high school to inform the student of culiat they need to
be aware about their knowledge condition, especially to those student.
Chapter 1
The Problem and Its Background

Dressmaking is an exciting and popular craft. But the lack of


Equipment Student will result to unefficient and unfinished products. This
class is for individuals to utilise their interest in dressmaking and to provide
a route to further studies. The course is delivered with support and
guidance from a qualified tutor who is also a practitioner in the subject. The
course will be based in a well-equipped studio with all appropriate
provision. The course introduction to dressmaking as well as taking skills
and interests to a higher level. Students can explore materials and
techniques and learn basic essential techniques and skills. The course
provides. basic understanding of safe dressmaking and sewing studio
practice. The course can provide the support students need to follow up
their own ideas and project. They will cover how to work from a
commercial pattern of their choice (non-stretch fabric and beginner-level
pattern) and if necessary adapt to suit their personal needs. Students will
learn relevant skills needed to complete their project. These will include
taking body measurements, cutting out, and understanding key symbols on
the printed pattern, seams and fastenings (including various zips i.e.
invisible, dress zip, buttonholes). Glahera(2009)
SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY

This research conducted this study significant to the following:


CULIAT HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR STUDENT- for re-evaluation of post
Secondary education plans.
CULIAT HIGH SCHOOL-for further improvement on areas that need
emphasis, specifically senior high school.
PARENT-for advising the student, and noticing some reasons why student
failed in academics.
FUTURE RESEARCHES-they can use this study for their future research.
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION-for sufficing lacks and implementing more
prepared program.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION


This research is focused on the study of “Effects of lack of Equipment
and Facility in Culiat Senior High School Dressmaking student in The
Academic Year 2018-2019”. We are conducting a random surveys. And
interviews to the 25 dressmaking Senior High School students.

This was conducted at Culiat High School, Tandang sora Avenue, Culiat
Quezon City to selected Senior High School of said to whom this research is
significant to the respondent are selected through purposive and
convenience sampling.

REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

FOREIGN LITERATURE
Galhera(2009) Explained that the lack of skilled labor is the major
challenge facing the Sri lanka apparwl industry back of skilled labor
normally effecg for the efficiency level of the factories.
Dorcas(2012) stated that facilities have a great imact on academic
performances of students and inadequate facilities translate to poor
performance.

LOCAL LITERATURE
Cinco(2013) explained that couture gowns speak grander and elegance
it allows formes speak grandeur and elegance allowing him to dress famous
Holywood Celebrities.

FOREIGN STUDIES
Andam(2007) stated that lack of facilities hve an adverse effect on the
performance of student in the less endowned schools. He noted that
students of less endownes school could therefore not xompete with other
students in major public examination.
Seneviratna(2013) pointed that quality of garment is very important to
its survival in an inereasingly competitive apparel industry in order to
maintain the production of high quality garments and improved
productivity in the factory.

LOCAL STUDIES
DelaCruz (2016) stated that the role of instructional materials in the
teaching/learning process cannot be overemphasized. They facilitate and
encourage self study or indeendent study in student.
