As a shelter in an area with high need, we are constantly looking for ways to better improve our services. We
have narrowed in on four areas of improvement for the next year.

Funding Job Placement Training Support

CommunicAID has many
generous donors and vol-
unteers, but as the need for
our housing services grow,
so does our need for fund-
ing. Although many of our
programs run on volun-
teers, we stil need funding
for supplies not covered
in donations and hiring of
local professionals in the
community.
CommunicAID prides it-
self on being a shelter fo-
cused on career develop-
ment and advancement.
Right now, we have many
women who have been
trained in basic office
skills, but we do not know
which companies need
employees. We are work-
ing on creating a network
with local businesses to
ensure the job placement
of our residents.
To supplement our career
development, we often
have professionals come
to the shelter to speak
with our residents about
job skills and tips. We are
looking to expand this net-
work throughout the Balti-
more community in order
to provide more resources
to our residents.
Politicians have the power
to frame the conversa-
tion. We hope that in the
coming years, there can be
more state- level legislation
addressing homelessness in
Baltimore specifically. We
would like to form better
relationships with politi-
cians in order to bring the
issue of homelessness and
poverty into the conversa-
tion.
