CODE OF BEHAVIOR AND DISICIPLINARY MEASURES

(Addendum and Revision, 2019)

A. GUIDELINES ON STUDENTS’ BEHAVIOR

Firm, fair and just discipline is the foundation of an effective and efficient institution. The philosophy
and objectives of St. Vincent Learning Academy may be best realized if learners obey the rules of
orderly conduct, exercise self-control, show consideration of the rights of other individuals and accept
the consequences of their acts. Discipline is one of the core values of the learners in the school.

PROCEDURE:

1. Each time a serious irregularity or complaint is reported against a particular student, the
parent or guardian should be notified either by phone or through letter. The Guidance
Counselor issues a form containing the offense/irregularity committed by the student, and
parents should affix their signature on it. They should come immediately to the school for them
to be informed of the offense/irregularity.
2. The Discipline Committee convenes to hear the case of the student that warrants
dismissal/exclusion. It is composed of the Guidance Counselor, Department Head and
Principal. After the due process, the results are submitted to the school administration for final
decision.
3. The following sanctions/penalties will be given according to the gravity of the offense/s
committed.

consistent misbehavior or a single grave breach of conduct. It is primarily meant
to help student develops self-discipline and improve conduct. A student on
disciplinary probation is not allowed to participate in co-curricular activities.
f. Suspension (S)
A restraining measure imposed on a student who has been found guilty of
repeated violations. A sanction of two (2) days confinement in the house will be
imposed.
g. Exclusion (CE)

of the erring student from the school enrolment roster for being undesirable.
Credentials for transfer will be issued immediately. An undesirable student after
thorough evaluation and found hard to be disciplined will be advised to transfer
to another school but with the issuance of the Good Moral Character

D. PARENTS’ RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW SCHOOL RULES

Compliance with the school rules and regulations is not the sole responsibility of the student but also of
his/her parents. Parents’ refusal to follow the rules and regulations of their child’s school may be a
legal ground for denying their child readmission. The court stated that the right of schools to establish
and enforce reasonable rules and regulations for admission, discipline and promotions of the students
“extends as well as to parent and parent-teacher associations as parents are under a social and moral (if
not legal) obligation, individually and collectively, to assist and cooperate with schools.”
(Education Law and the Private Schools by Ulpiano P. Sarmiento II)
