NCC MISSION:
The mission of Northern Christian College is the training of spiritual, intellectual, social and physical faculties of the youth of the Philippines
with special emphasis on the development of Christian character as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

INSTITUTIONAL OUTCOMES
Northern Christian College as an institution of Christian faith, learning, and exposure corresponds to the needs of the 21st century learners
and responds to the changes and challenges of the academic sphere and the world through equipping its students with knowledge, skills, and
attitudes that would make them globally competitive and prepared in whatever life is going to offer. Particularly, the school is geared towards
the development of the following outcomes:

• Employ appropriate use of technology to support learning activities
• Exhibit intellectual honesty and stewardship in the use of technology in the learning process
• Show proper care for school equipment and property
After completing the course, the students are expected to manifest the following competencies:
INFORMATION LITERACY
1. Trace the development of Philippine literatures from the pre-colonial era to the present with consideration to significant events, literary forms, and literary
outputs written in different regional languages.
2. Perform role-play, choral reading, speech choir, reader’s theater, and poetry interpretation.
CRITICAL THINKING
1. Discuss the nature, types and development of Philippine literature including the historical background of the literature;
2. Give information about famous writers of the Philippines and their outstanding works;
3. Demonstrate profound knowledge of the theoretical concepts of Philippine literatures; and
4. Give information about famous writers of the Philippines and their outstanding works.
COMMUNICATION CAPABILITY
1. Demonstrate creative and critical thinking, reading comprehension and good communication skills, both oral and written.
2. Recognize the significance of effective oral and written communication as basic requirements in the discussion and analyses of the different literary
selections
1. Draw out insights and worthwhile values from the literary pieces;
2. Specify the assortment of cultures in Philippine literatures while citing their commonalities and differences;
3. Develop awareness of the changing perspectives of the Filipino experience in different generations and conditions;
4. Reflect social awareness in all actions and decisions;
5. Exhibit efficiency in personal work ethics, and in working with a team;
6. Appreciate the selections that exemplify the multi-faceted Filipino experience;
7. Value the cultural nuances, differences, and likeness embodied in Philippine writings;
8. React and manifest understanding of the social, historical and ideological implications in the texts;
9. Convert creatively Philippine literary pieces to other artistic forms;
10. Emulate the ideal image of the Filipino according to the depiction of Filipino experience; and
11. Engage in socio-cultural activities that focus on the assortment as well as the singularity of Philippine literatures.
1. Apply critical and creative skills in analyzing poems, songs, short stories, epics, novels, and dramas;
2. Interpret and analyze literary works using different approaches and theories to draw values reflected in the selections; and
3. Draw out insights and worthwhile values from the literary pieces.
CHRISTIAN CHARACTER
1. Analyze and internalize the different messages and lessons of literary texts they read which could help them in becoming model citizens of the country and
the world; and
2. Show Christian core values most especially the love of God, forgiveness of sins, unconditional love, and renunciation of violence while dealing with the
different facets of the teaching and learning process.
GENDER RESPECT
1. Analyze, and critic literary texts with gender bias themes; and
2. Tackle different gender issues found in the different literary texts to be touched in the subject.

COURSE POLICIES:
1. A 20% absence in class means a failing grade (5); for absence due to health reason to be excused, submit a medical certificate duly
signed by the attending physician.
2. Failure to submit requirements on schedule means a reduction in points for the work.
3. Make-up exams should be scheduled beforehand.
4. Adding/ Dropping/ Changing of subjects are on the second week of classes.
