3.3.1 Procedures
3.3.1.1 Lifting works shall only be done during daytime, therefore make sure for the time
frame allocated for mobile crane to stay in the positioning area in order to be get ready
and aware for the mobilization and demobilization time to avoid inconvenient and
delay. (Time Chart )
3.3.1.2 Mobile crane shall be properly park in the designated parking area in order not to
distract other heavy equipment passing through after lifting or during daytime.
3.3.1.4 Make a survey for possible route of heavy equipment going to each foundation and
check the elevation of foundation.
3.3.1.5 Provide burden sling / nylon rope and chain block if necessary to make elevation surface
uniform, take note the sizes.
3.3.1.6 Prepare the chain block with enough capacity to carry the panel and position it
in Panel position, ready for the unloading of equipment.
3.3.1.7 Prepare for the outrigger base of unloading mobile crane in the position area of the
heavy equipment.
3.3.1.8 Position the mobile crane telescopic type as near as possible to the opening for heavy
equipment entry located in the ground floor area, proper pre-cautions must be observed
for the positioning location of the lifting crane.
3.3.1.9 Position the mobile crane that carries the equipment as close as possible to the mobile
crane. (At this time professional rigger is required )
3.3.1.10 Locate the lifting eye of the heavy equipment, fasten the lifting cable to carry the
equipment, then locked with shackles.
3.3.1.11 Fasten sling rope (guyline) to the heavy equipment and the other end of rope must be
held firmly by workers in order to prevent or minimized swinging of the equipment
during lifting process.
3.3.1.12 Carefully, the rigger makes signal to crane operator through hand gesture signaling or
through handheld VHF radio, to start lifting the equipment slowly, (before swinging,
the rigger must double check for some obstruction) then swing towards the opening.
3.3.1.13 As the equipment draws closer to the opening, the rigger will guide the exact
orientation and position of the equipment for convenient setting in the roller and for
final setting in place.
3.3.1.14 Put the heavy equipment set to the chill roller, the roller must be manned with expert
and professional to avoid untoward incident towards each foundation prior to final
setting and installation.
3.3.1.15 For pulling the panel or fix a sling cable braid type to the structural. At the
midpoint of sling cable, fasten the chain block hook, tie or fix another sling cable to
the panel and extend until reaches to the other hook of chain block, fix firmly. Start
moving the panel slowly using the chain block/hoist towards each panel to final setting
and installation.
Note:
Close supervision from Engineer in-charge from the contractor is required for this work
execute.
3.3.2 Safety Procedure
3.3.2.1b Fall and damage of panel due to poor lifting rope or cable Sling.
3.3.2.1e Stumbling of workers lead to serious accident due to poor illumination of the
working area.
3.3.2.2a Make sure that the panel must be properly fastened or supported before
bringing to its final location.
3.3.2.2b Ensure that lifting cable or lifting rope/sling has enough capacity to
carry the equipment weight and must be securely fasten to lifting eye
before lifting the panel.
3.3.2.2c Make sure that professional rigger and have well-verse in rigging
gesture that can communicate properly to mobile crane operator must
execute gesture that can communicate properly to mobile crane
operator must the rigging work.
3.3.2.2d Watchman shall be assign in the surrounding area within the vicinity
and radius of lifting crane to ensure safety of passersby vehicle.

3.5. WIRE ROPE
Safety Factor :
Using sling cable wire rope im 10 mm diameter to satisty above load requirement :
Breaking Load of Wire of Wire Rope x Number of Sling x Bending Factor of wire rope
_____Load =
Safety
Safety Factor x Tensile Increase Factor
= 10 x 2 x 0,7
= 1.99
7 x 1.005
Safety load is 1.99 tons which is tons which is > 0.53 tons weight of equipment for Panel per
unit. The safety load of wire rope is 1.99 tons, which is bigger than the total weight of
equipment to be lifted. Therefore it is safe to use 10mm diameter wire rope / sling.
Tensile Increase Factor of Sling Cable / Wire rope :
1
Tensite increase factor = _______
COS θ/2
