PROBLEM

According to the World Health Association or WHO as of 2018 that globally, it is


estimated that approximately 1.3 billion people live with some form of distance or vision
impairment. People with visual disabilities faces many problems in their everyday life. Reading
is one of their major challenge in life but with the help of braille and applications that converts
texts to speech their life became easier.
Braille is a system of raised dots that can be read with the fingers by people who are blind
or who have low vision. Teachers, parents, and others who are not visually impaired ordinarily
read braille with their eyes. Braille is not a language. Rather, it is a code by which many
languages such as English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and dozens of others may be written and
read. Braille is used by thousands of people all over the world in their native languages, and
provides a means of literacy for all. Braille books are costly and has limited access to other
people that cannot afford to buy one. This type of books has its own downside because not all
books that has been published has its own version of braille.

Applications that converts texts to speech is a great idea. Where this kind of applications
helps the people with visual disabilities big time. But many factors may occur in this kind of
applications examples are the focus issue in the camera of the user, alignment of the words,
accuracy of the words and lastly word translations where the user and of the application will be
confused and end up with wrong conversion of the texts.
SOLUTION
Scanning of words in word per word basis, sentence structure analyzing and accurate
translating of words to provide a user friendly device with the help of image processing via deep
learning, which is a trend nowadays it will be used to analyze the properties of the words and
letters. In this method it will help to be more accurate in converting texts to speech and precise
translating.
IMPORTANCE
The importance of implementing this project will help the people with visual disabilities
in proceeding their everyday life this kind of device may lessen their everyday struggles.
Communication and accessing printed text will be easier for them.
