STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of applying for the admission to the Ph.D. program in management is to pursue my
career in the field of research and teaching as these always have been my areas of interest. I am
eager to learn and investigate the factors that may have positive or negative impact on the
competitive performance of a business and how technology and modern ways of conducting
businesses may change organizational hierarchies, HR practices, Marketing techniques,
distribution methods, supply chains cost effectively and efficiently. In order to suggest best
practices about challenges faced by businesses in modern era, it is very important to gain
knowledge about different areas of management particularly about organizational behavior,
financial management, HR, marketing and use of information technology
I am really positive and have firm believe that this Ph.D. program in management would help me
a great deal to achieve above mentioned objectives. It would help to polish my conceptual and
quantitative skills to analyze business challenges of modern era with the cost effective and time
saving techniques and would open up new directions in research. After the completion of Ph.D.
program, I would surely pursue my career as a faculty member in any leading university like FAST
and conduct research about the modern-day issues faced by business organizations like diverse
and complex consumer behaviors, Limited financial resources, saturated competitions etc.
With my academic background and professional experience, I am very much prepared to study in
this program. During my studies of MS management in UK, I secured second position for the final
dissertation of the program. To study abroad in a highly professional and supportive environment,
have equipped me sound knowledge of both aspects of modern-day business practices, the
practical side, and the theoretical side
Along with my studies and after completion of the degree, I worked in number of multiple
organizations Like Transport for London, UK in highly conducive and dynamic environment
where I had the opportunity to apply that theoretical knowledge and to observe and learn the
outcomes. Also, as a lecturer in different renowned universities Like NUST and university of
Sargodha, Lahore campus, I played my role to transfer the practical knowledge I gained throughout
my long professional career. I try to keep my self current by extensive reading of business articles
which helps me to understand the requirements of current era in terms of technology, Managerial
techniques, Marketing strategies and HR Practices
Furthermore, I had the opportunity to apply all my academic skills and knowledge as I opted to
become an entrepreneur and started my e-commerce store which deals in high quality fashion
accessories. This opportunity helped me a great deal to apply what I had learned through my
academic career, It helped me to apply academic knowledge to build a brand from scratch. My
academic knowledge played a key role to help me in designing organizational structure and how
to handle business operations. With the limited resources I started my business and my academic
knowledge helped me to handle my business operations by applying cost cutting techniques and
use of technology. My academic background and experience encouraged me to adopt modern ways
of approaching and finding my customers and it taught me how to satisfy my customers.
All this has given me valuable insights into the environment in which companies operate - how
they affect this environment and are affected by it. It has enabled me to observe some of the better
and worse ways of running a business. Certain tasks have been thought provoking; The time
limitation on each assignment has taught me to plan well and work systematically.
While the highly diverse nature of assignments has helped me gain a broad exposure to industry,
it has not been possible for me to study specific business and technology - related issues in depth.
I realize that in order to be able to do so, I need a better understanding of the various facets of
management; the interlinkages between different functional areas and between different business
entities. Equally important, I need further training in research methodology.
I decided to get my admission in FAST as its very well reputed academic institution because of its
highly qualified faculty, Programs offered in compliance with the top universities of the world and
highly professional research environment
I hope that the admissions committee finds my background and strengths commensurate with the
requirements of FAST Ph.D. program in Management.
