Pre Test
1. Create IPR curve if :
– Pr = 200 bar
– Qmax = 100 bpd
– Single phase
How much the PI? (bpd/psi)
3. Mention and explain recovery method
during production?
4. What is skin? What is the effect of skin?

• Outflow Performance Relationship (OPR)
• Introduction to Recovery Method

INFLOW PERFORMANCE
RELATIONSHIP
2/17/2017 Production Engineering II _ STT MIGAS 2017 _ KRR
Well Productivity
Well productivity depend on the
available energy of reservoir and
reservoir fluids.

Well drawdown is total loss in tubing.

INFLOW PERFORMANCE RELATIONSHIP
(IPR)
IPR describes pressure
drawdown as a function of
production rate.
Darcy equation :
Constant, then :

INFLOW PERFORMANCE RELATIONSHIP
(IPR) – cont’d
IPR depends on the energy/
pressure

OUTFLOW PERFORMANCE
RELATIONSHIP
2/17/2017 Production Engineering II _ STT MIGAS 2017 _ KRR
OUTFLOW PERFORMANCE
RELATIONSHIP (OPR)
Parameter which also impact
to VLP :
-Liquid rate
-Fluid type (GLR, WC)
-Fluid properties
-Tubing size

2/17/2017 Production Engineering II _ STT MIGAS 2017 _ KRR

Effect of Tubing Size to OPR
-Increase diameter of pipe will reduces
pressure gradient due to friction.
-However, if diameter is to big velocity of
mixture not enough to lift the liquid. The liquid
will fill the tubing and increase hydrostatic
pressure.

Effect of Gas Liquid
Ratio (GLR) to OPR
• Increase GLR results in reduce
hydrostatic pressure.
• However, increase GLR also
increase friction force.
• If friction force is higher than
hydrostatic pressure than BHP
will be increase

OPERATING POINT

2/17/2017 Production Engineering II _ STT MIGAS 2017 _ KRR

IPR vs OPR

• IPR and OPR are used to define the

optimum flowrate.

• The optimum point is the cross section

between OPR and IPR.

Point 1 is unstable
flowrate, where
there is liquid
column at the well.
