About AS/400 Project with Agile I worked for

Project Client: - Leoni cabling & Wire Systems. (Fixed Price & Fixed Duration
Project)

Team Size: - 14

About Client (Leoni): - LEONI is one of the world’s leading providers of wires, optical
fibers, cables, cable systems, and related services to the automotive industry and many
others. The company manufactures and supplies automobiles internal wiring called
Harness and some other automobiles related products.

About Project :- Leoni already runs an ERP(on AS/400) developed by ATOS long back.
The project was developing new programs and changes to some existing programs
mainly for their Profit Center. There were in all 17 packages to be delivered. (7 big and
10 small Packages). Capgemini had appointed a person as PM who was from Mainframes
background. There were problems as the client was not happy with basic deliverables of
specification docs, RTM, Test plans and Test cases. The requirement documents did not
clearly state requirements and team had many difficulties to understand those and
prepare spec docs from it. I was appointed to Lead the team and also do development
work (coding and testing).

Agile introduction in the Project : - I acted as Scrum master (though the roll was not
officially declared such). I divided the 14 member team in 3 teams of 5, 5 and 4. The 3
teams had 3 Product owners.

My Role related to Agile was:-

 Creating Sprints and monitoring progress of sprints by team members.

 Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog.
 Ensuring that goals, scope are understood by everyone on the Team.
 Helping the Team understand the requirements for clear and concise Product
delivery.
 Coaching the Development Team.
 Helping the Development Team to create best products.
 Reporting to client on daily basis about agility progress of the Project. Also
communicate about problems faced by team members and getting requirements
cleared.
 Conducting daily stand-up meetings also known as daily Scrum to monitor
progress of project. (what was done in last working session, what the team
member will work on today and Problems faced by team members) Also discuss
on any problems solution communicated by the client .

As the Client was reported progress daily, the client found it much more effective to be ensured that
quality product was delivered and also they found it easier to point any errors or shortcomings. Also
periodic calls to client made to understanding of requirements easier.
