Pupils unable to understand, didn’t read thoroughly and didn’t identify keywords in the
questions to help them.
For language functions, most of the pupils unable to write correct full sentences, errors in
spelling and some, gave blatant responds.
Poor language use in writing – especially answering WH-Questions.
Pupils unable to put their opinion in writing correctly and some made unclear suggestions
/ opinions.
When referring to picture stimulus, pupils didn’t have the proper technique to find
answers from the non-linear text / picture stimulus.
Some pictures in the questions were totally unclear / unable to see or read.
For grammatical items, some of the grammar items tested has not learnt by the pupils and
therefore, few questions item were lucky guesses.

Pupils weren’t clear about how to answer the questions. Need to learn on how to extract
and rewrite information.
One question was tricky where it asked to change the time into other value.
Some gross errors performed when it comes to spelling. Some can’t spell elephant and
turtle correctly and others mistook turtle with tortoise – lack of vocabulary power.
For writing, most of them were still weak at expanding ideas.
They also lack in vocabulary power and word attack skills. They also showed limited
imagination in writing open-ended essay question.
Pupils were too restricted to the words given, even though it’s not compulsory to use all
the words.
Grammar and structural (sentence structures) still need to be improved.
