PROPOSAL for SY 2019 – 2020: Power Sheets

OBJECTIVES. The Power Sheet Activity intends to

a) provide application questions on current topics;
b) build a skill portfolio of each student;
c) diagnose specific concerns on required skills on current topics; and
d) individualize HW and SW to suit individual needs;

MATERIALS:
a) Power Sheets (A4 sized paper with 3 columns);
b) pens
c) calculator

PROCEDURE. The Power Sheet Activity shall run for 10 minutes. Questions are classified under three levels of difficulty, and each
student is to answer the questions to get to highest level (Level 3). Specifically:
a) The activity begins with a Level 1 (minimum skill level) question which all students must answer; as such, they label the
Level number as 1. The question is flashed on the screen for 40 seconds. A student does all his solving work under the first
column and writes his final answer at the bottom of the column.
b) At the end of 40 seconds, the student checks his own work; his answer is ONLY either correct or incorrect.
c) After checking, two new questions will be flashed on the screen: a Level 1 question and a Level 2 question.
 If a student answers the first question correctly, he labels the second column as Level 2 and answers the flashed
Level 2 question (intermediate skill level) under this column.
 If a student fails to answer the first question correctly, he labels the second column as Level 1 and answers the
flashed Level 1 question under this column.
After 40 seconds, the students check their own work.
d) The same process repeats for the new set of three questions, one for each of the three levels (Level 3 is an advanced skill
level question).
e) Note that a student gets to the next higher level ONLY when he answers the previous one correctly.
f) At the end of the three sets of questions, the students rate their overall work as follows:

LAST LEVEL ANSWERED

REMARKS LEVEL 1 LEVEL 2 LEVEL 3
INCORRECT 7 8 9
CORRECT 8 9 10
