APRES HONORS PEANUT RESEARCHERS AT 2019 ANNUAL MEETING - Over 350 attended the recent annual meeting of the
American Peanut Research and Education Society at Auburn University, the best in 16 years. Scientists from peanut producing states
in the U.S. plus 8 countries presented 140 papers and 50 posters. The Professional Recognition and Awards included
- Coyt T. Wilson Distinguished Service Award – Dr. Timothy Grey, University of Georgia
- Bailey Award– Ye “Juliet” Chu, Horticulture Department, University of Georgia

PEANUTS IN THE NEXT 50 YEARS – A panel of key peanut leaders said at the APRES ANNUAL meeting that the peanut industry
can expect more consumer interest in sustainability, more pressure on environmental stewardship, more innovation and increased
emphasis on efficiency across the production supply chain. The surprise statement came from a farmer, “But peanut farmers are not

TALKING NUTRITION WITH SCHOOL NURSES - Sherry Coleman Collins, National Peanut Board’s registered dietitian
consultant, partnered with Kevin Sauer, registered dietitian nutritionist and associate professor at Kansas State University, for
roundtable discussions during the National Association. Fast-paced, 20-minute rotating learning sessions allowed Coleman Collins to
share the basics about peanut allergies and keys to reducing the risk for reactions based on the latest research. Sauer shared
important facts about his research on school nutrition staff knowledge of food allergies and about theories of behavior change.
