PRAYER UPON ENTERING THE PEW

Behold, Lord, an empty vessel that needs to be filled. My Lord, fill it. I am
weak in the faith; strengthen me. I am cold in love; warm me and make me
fervent, that my love may go out to my neighbor. I do not have a strong and
firm faith; at times I doubt and am unable to trust you altogether. O Lord,

by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And
so, with all the choirs of angels, with the church on earth and the hosts of
heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Worshippers are invited to bow with the consecration of the Lord’s body
and blood, each time the words “Do this for the remembrance of me,” are
spoken.
Holy, mighty, and merciful Lord, heaven and earth are full of your glory. In
great love you sent to us Jesus, your Son, who reached out to heal the sick
and suffering, who preached good news to the poor, and who, on the cross,
opened his arms to all.
In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave
thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to

INVITATION TO COMMUNION

All who want to die to themselves, pick up the cross, and live by the Holy
Spirit, come to the feast!

Lutherans believe, teach and confess that we receive the true Body and
Blood of Christ in Holy Communion. If you desire to pick up the cross and
live in Christ, we hope you will receive with us. Even if you do not feel
prepared to receive the sacrament today we hope you will join us at the
table. Simply hold your hands over your heart and the pastor will give you
a blessing. Pastor will be glad to discuss Holy Communion and Holy
Baptism with you!

encounter with the risen Lord, Mary was a woman of Galilee who followed
Jesus throughout his ministry. She was present at Jesus' crucifixion and his

Birgitta of Sweden, renewer of the church, died 1373
Tuesday, July 23, 2019
Birgitta married at age thirteen and had four daughters. Widowed at age
thirty-eight, she gave all that she owned to the poor, and founded a
community of monks and nuns led by a woman. Her work is continued
today by the Society of St. Birgitta.
James, Apostle
Thursday, July 25, 2019
James and his brother John were the sons of Zebedee, fishermen by trade
before their call from Jesus. He was the first of the twelve apostles to be
martyred, and his death is the only one recorded in scripture (Acts 12:1-2).
The Altar flowers are administered by the worship committee. The 2019
Altar Flower chart is posted on the bulletin board in the lower lobby and
there is a nearby pocket containing an information sheet for donors to
complete and hand into the office or place in the offering plate for
proper publication in the bulletin.
If you would like to purchase flowers for worship in memory of or in honor
