ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is indeed a matter of great pleasure and proud privilege to present this project of
“Flood Management and Control System using GSM Technology”.
We are highly indebted to ‘Prof. H. S. BADODEKAR’ invaluable guidance and
wish to record our deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for giving form and
substance to this report. It is due to his enduring efforts, patience and enthusiasm,
which has given a sense of direction and purposefulness to this project and
ultimately made it a success.

We would like to render our sincere thanks to ‘Prof. V. N. PAWAR’. Head of

Department, Electronics and staff members for their co-operation.

We would also like to thank our principal ‘Prof. D. G. BORSE’ for providing us
ample laboratory facilities and rendering help whenever required.

Last but not the least we wish to thank the non-teaching staff and our friends who
have helped us all the time in one way or the other in the course of this work.

ABSTRACT

Natural calamities are inevitable. As an engineer and planner it is our

responsibility to have proper infrastructure planning execution and quality control if

these aspects are not dealt with seriously they result into catastrophe .The recent

floods in Mumbai is an eye-opener for natural disaster whose gravity increases

many fold due to human apathies towards infrastructure facilities. The severity of

floods increased due to encroachment into natural water bodies such as rivers,

lakes etc.

Heavy rainfall in India is causing flooding over large areas. Government

officials say thousands of people have been forced to flee after their homes were

destroyed by flooding in and around the capital; there have been few casualties

among the wildlife population, because most of the animals reached high ground in

time.

This project will continuously monitor the flood level as well as blockage

using few specific sensors and if sea water try to enter in the city it will

automatically stop the water and also indicate the garbage due to which water is

blocked.

INTRODUCTION
During heavy rains the water level in the sea goes above the Sewage Pipeline

and because of it the sea water starts flowing in the pipeline, which in turn

overflows the gutters and the manholes which in turn aggravates the floods.

Cell broadcasting is an existing function of most modern digital mobile phone systems such as

GSM . It differs from SMS in that, while it does put text messages on the screen of the

phone like SMS does, it does this to 'all-at-once' and not one-at-a-time as SMS does. The solution

of communicating important flood warnings through all active cell phones in a flood prone area can

potentially be widely used in the coming years.

The basic objective of our project is to continuously monitor the flood level &

Pipeline blockage using a few specific sensors. Then it will automatically stop the

entry of sea water in sewage pipelines and indicate the reason of blockage via a

LCD display to the main control room.
