Questionnaire analysis

Quantitative results

1) How old are you?

This pie chart tells me that the answers/responses I get in the further questions are from the
ages of 16-21, but most of the responses are from 18-19 year olds. This will help me
because it will give me an idea of what the target audience of this documentary will expect.

2) What gender are you?


This graph tells me that the majority of the people who answered these questions are
females, although some males did answer as well. This will help me because this
information will help me find out more about what both genders expect of this documentary.

3) What ethnicity are you?

From this pie chart I can tell that there is a range of ethnic groups that answered
this question, although the most common is Pakistani people, this will help me
because it tells me what different ethnicities expect from a documentary.

4) What are your hobbies?


From this graph I can tell that the the audience are interested in many different types
of hobbies but the most common hobbies from this audience group is watching TV
and socialising with friends, this will help me because now I know that my audience
mostly watch TV, so my documentary should be something which is suitable to
watch on television.

5) What is your monthly spending power

From this pie chart can tell that most of the audience age ranges have a spending
power of 50+ a month, now I know that the documentary can be aimed at people
who spend over 50+ a month.

6) Do you take part in sport activities?


From this graph I can tell that most of my target audience do take part in sports
activities, this information will help me because i now in my documentary I can aim
the topic towards taking part in sport activities

7) Rank these sport activities in terms of which one appeals to you the most?

From this graph I can tell that the most appealing activities to my audience is
badminton, dodge ball, football and swimming. This tells me that I need to focus my
documentary around these types of sport activities in order to keep my audience
interested.

8) Do you regularly watch sports documentaries?


From this graph I can tell that most of my audience do not watch sports activities, so
now I know from this that I have make my documentary, the audience will already
know some knowledge about sport activities.

9) What would you expect the presenter’s mode of address to be in a


documentary?

From this pie chart I can tell that the audience expect the presenter to be informal
and direct, so in my documentary I need to have a presenter that will have to be
informal and direct towards the audience.

10) Do you feel that sports activities help you both physically and mentally?
From this graph I can tell that all of my audience think that sport activities help you
both physically and mentally, this shows that the audience do have some knowledge
of this topic and do agree with me that sport activities help you physically and
mentally.

11) Who would you expect the presenter of this documentary to be?

From this graph I can tell that my audience expect the presenter of this documentary
should a young male. Now I know that my presenter of my documentary should be a
young male.

see that more people
both take part and watch sports activities, this tells me that the majority of the
audience will benefit from this documentary.

From this graph I can see the audience believe that sports activities help your body
and mind, which in other words means that it helps you physically and mentally.

14) What aspect or element of a documentary is most important to you?


From this pie chart I can see that my audience thinks that the most important
elements of a documentary is the music and facts and figures used, this tells me that
I should use interesting facts and figures and should use appealing music in order to
keep the audience’s attention.

15) What locations do you think a sports related documentary should be shot
in?

From this graph I can see that my audience think that the best location that
relates to this documentary where I can film in is sport stadiums, so now I know
that in my documentary I have to film in these types of locations in order to
appeal to the target audience.

Qualitative results
16) Do you currently watch any sports related documetaries, if yes which ones?

From these responses I can see that most of the audience watch sports
related documentaries, this tells me that my target audience are interested
in sports.

Impact on production

 I will focus on people who play or watch sport activities frequently since most
of them have spending power of 50+ per month.
 I will include music that appeals to my target audience since this is the
element they think is most important in a documentary.
 I will cast actors that are similar ages to my target audience because they
have to be informal, in order to keep the audiences attention.
 I will show how sport activities benefit your mind and body since the audience
agree with this.
 I will talk about the more popular type of sport that the audience mentioned,
such as football and swimming.
