Stewards of Truth

By Lahry Sibley

Luke 8: 10 He said to them, To you it has been given to [come progressively to] know
(to recognize and understand more strongly and clearly) the mysteries and secrets
of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that, [though]
looking, they may not see; and hearing, they may not comprehend.

Adopted children are chosen children. They are taken into a family by careful
selection and desire, chosen to be loved.

We are children of God by adoption, He chose us, and He chose to make known to
us the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Halleluyah. Surely, we must ask ourselves,
“what kind of stewards am I with the mysteries of God”?

In the verse above, Jesus is about to explain the parable of the sower. It takes a
move of God to reveal His mysteries and vastness of power and love. Unless God
chooses to make His Word revelation light in the heart of a person, they simply
cannot comprehend it.

A person who does not believe has no interest in God, His Word, or His mysteries.
They don’t see it, don’t’ hear it, and they do not comprehend it.

I have a fellow I went to school with for 12 years down in Louisiana. We were both
raised Catholic. In the last 50 years since graduation ( I know that is a long time,
huh?) God has led me to a place of revelation, but my friend ventured away from
the wretchedness of religion, only to make science his excuse for life. He is quite
hardened against God, or even the reality of God.

We are good friends. We do talk about God from time to time. I give Him revelation
light, He gives me the wonders of the universe. I peer into the Word of God, he
peers into his telescope.

So, I must return to the author and giver of life and ask Him to have mercy on my
friend, as He has had upon me. But until that happens, there is little to nothing I
can do that will affectively change his mind. He simply cannot see it. And it is so
pathetic. The seed falls upon stone, and cannot take root.

How much more, beloved? How much more pathetic, are those who have received
the revelation of God, but do not act upon it?
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on his name:

They have been given power to become sons of God, but develop a “naaaahhh” attitude.
They will not submit to the Cross. Why? Paul tells us.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God.

Is this verse speaking of those who have not been chosen, or for those who have been chosen,
but refuse to come ? I think the latter, beloved. They see the Cross. They speak of the Cross.
They will go to the Cross. They will point to the Cross. But on that Cross, they will not die! They
have no power to overcome the flesh and sin, because they will not be crucified with Christ. They
are not dead unto sin. Therefore, they are NOT ALIVE unto God!!!!

Go read Luke 14:16-24 and see what happens when those called made excuses for not coming.
What is God’s reaction to their rejection of His invitation to become sons of God? They have the
power to become, but have certain “other things” they are busy with, and the value of coming to
God is not as great as the things of this world. “I have a field, or 5 yoke of oxen, or a new wife”.
Or how about “my favorite team in the NFL is on TV, or I promised Fred I’d go fishing with him,
or I’m going to the Mall and buy myself a new ‘whatever’”?

God is calling to many today, with revelation light and life. They believe, the invitation is there,
but they choose to do “other things” and will not get in to taste the feast of God.

So what about you? What about me? What are we doing with God’s invitation? Today is the
Sabbath Day. We are commanded to rest and commune with God every 7th day. Are you resting?

Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:
and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest
myself to him.

You say you love God…..do you? You can know for sure. Just read the verse above. Those
who love God in Spirit and in Truth keep His commandments, all 10, not just 9. Do you?
Do you love God enough to obey His commandments? Do you love God enough to rest
with Him as He commanded each 7 th day? (no excuses please, I’ve heard them, and so
has God). You are either resting or you are working, amusing yourself, instead of being
enraptured in God.

Here is what God wants you to know today, beloved…..

Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not
doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the
high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the
LORD hath spoken it.
What day is the Lord’s Day? Does not Verse 13 say “my holy day”? Is it not the 7 th day, not the
1st? Well, it’s Sabbath Day today, the Lord’s Day. What you are you doing? Your answer reveals
whether or not you truly love God. Selah- please pause and think about that.
