Why Germany ?

Germany as we all know is a land of Technology . So it automatically attracts engineering graduates to it. Most
of the Universities are world class. Two main reasons for choosing Germany .

 The quality of education is fantastic . Students are able to expand their knowledge by working in
complicated projects sponsored by the EU ,German Govt etc.

 Quality comes in a cheaper price than any other country in Europe . (Some of the Universities wont
charge. The maximum fee per semester in an ordinary university is 500-700 Euros )

Mainly there are two kinds of Universities in Germany

1. Technical Universties (normally called as TU ) or University --> course period 4 Semesters

2. University of Applied Sciences (normally called as HS or FH )---> COurse period 3 semesters (more practical
oriented )

Selection Procedure :

To get admission, a person is evaluated based on some 5, 6 or more criterias..some criterias r compulsory n
some r not...for each criteria its like the person ll be given points based on his/her performance...n if in the
cumulative points the person scores good than the people who have applied along..he/she gets the admission!...
For Eg:
C-Compulsory O-Optional V-May be compulsory or optional depending on the course
I've assumed a scale of 5

1. Bachelor' %----4/5 (C)

2. GRE--------------3/5 (V)
3. TOEFL-----------4/5 (C)---for courses in english
4. Work Exp-------0/5 (O)--- Fresher
5. Projects n papers----2/5 (O)
6. German Proficiency---2/5 (O)

Cumulative---15/30...if this rating is better than the people who have applied along, the person gets the
admission

This is not the exact way of how the admission process is being done. there r lots of other factors considered like
weightage for criterias etc.
The Eg i've given is just to give an idea abt the system.

No...Knowing German is advantageous...not compulsory for Courses in English .

Do they consider history of arrears ?

Histories ll mostly be considered like another criteria n U'll be rated!

How about the part time job oppurtunities ?

Usually its better to stick with jobs inside the university (HIWI) .You will be associated with a ongoing project
in the university for which you will be paid (mostly 10 euros and hour ).There are jobs available outside also
like in restaurants ,Factories ..etc .
Why do you say German knowledge is advantageous ?

In Germany everything will be in german . Even the people prefer to speak German even if they know English .
Also once you have completed your course the german companies expect you to know german .There are a lot
of job oppurtunities in germany But we have to be able to converse in German Fluently .

For those who want to learn German through internet, I am posting a few links which has excellent study

I have studied until A1 level in India .Is it enough ?

I am posting this question since a lot of people have been asking me this question . Its not about the levels you
have completed .Its about how good you converse in Deutsch .

Living in Germany :
I consider germany personally as the beautiful place in the world . Most of the cities have rivers enriching the
beauty of the place . Lets come to our perspective . Usually the living cost is 400 -500 euros /month .(which
includes compulsory health insurance , room rent and own expenses ). For students its always good to stay
inside the university which is very reasonable (Studentenwerk).

As you can see, majority of the scholarships listed above do not have a dedicated website or atleast an e-mail
ID. They still rely on snail mail for receiving requests and the applications. Candidates need to factor in
sufficient time to ensure that the snail mail reaches well within the deadline.

This list is by no means exhaustive. Readers are welcome to leave any additional information they have in the
form of a comment.
