Activity : Music Therapy

Time Frame: 20-30 minutes

Music Therapy is an interpersonal process in which the therapist


uses music and the holistic of a person (physical, emotional, mental
and spiritual) and to enable the client to express in a therapeutic
environment after listening to soothing melody.

Objectives:
General: To allow participating patients to promote cognitive function
and well-being through the use of music that will promote relaxation to
the clients.

Specific:
a. To use this activity as a means of promoting physical, mental
and social well-being
b. To promote a degree of comfort and relief among the clients.
c. To promote coordinated concentration and alert thinking to
the patients, specifically to
the green group (withdrawn group).
d. To promote a therapeutic nurse-client relationship throughout
the activity

activity

therapist

V. Therapy Process

a. Gathering of participants
b. Conduction of therapy
c. Mechanics:

1. The program starts by gathering the participants into the female


grounds assisted by their
respective student nurses.
2. After instructions are given, facilitators must monitor each
participant’s behavior.
3. Orientation of the participants as to the time, place and
persons involved and the general
view of the therapy is done.
4. Lagda is made. Facilitators set the rules. The clients are
requested to make their Lagda.
5. Facilitators should inform the clients about objectives,
guidelines, and other instructions
concerning the therapy.
6. Start with reading the lyrics of the song.
7. Therapy is facilitated by the start of music therapy.
8. Sharing of feelings is encouraged after the activity

b. Follow up questions are based and is dependent on the clients
response.

VIII. Observations during the therapy


1. General Impression of patients behavior and response during
the therapy
Most patients were cooperative and have participated actively
during the therapy. They listened to the therapist’s instructions
and followed the client’s contract.
2. Effects of the therapy on the patients disposition
We have observed that before the therapy most of the patient’s
were bored and sleepy, but after the music therapy they became
happy, alive and energized.
