4. CONSULTATION PROCESS

A meeting was held with the Sopara road street vendors


an Urban planner and social worker from YUVA

Day :- Monday , 4th Dec, 2004

Time :- 11.00 am – 12.00 pm

Place :- On Sopara road

Objective:- Group of Hawkers getting educated with the


proposed plan on site
a) Present the proposed street plan showing space
disposition for the hawkers of Sopara Road.
b) Get objections and suggestions from the hawkers and
other concerned stake holders
c) Visual documentation and refining of the proposed plan
prior to presenting it to the Municipal authorities and
people’s representatives

Following were present for the meeting-

The points discussed in the meeting based on the


proposal -

1. As per the Municipal authorities the space occupied by


hawkers under the flyover possess problem for traffic
and pedestrian flow. As per the proposal if the Auto
Rickshaw traffic is diverted few mts away from the
station, the whole area under the flyover is preferred to
be a hawker’s zone.

2. The proposed location is very important catchments for


the hawkers as it serves as an entry/exit point to the
station area.

3. The positioning of the proposed space is under the


flyover and not encroaching the railway land as seen
evident in the existing pattern. This organizes the
movement pattern as well as leaves more space for
pedestrian flow during the peak hours.

4. CONSULTATION PROCESS

A meeting was held with the Tulinz road street vendors


,Urban planner and social worker from YUVA

Day :- Monday , 29th Nov, 2004

Time :- 9.30 pm – 10.15 pm

Place :- On Tulinz road

Objective:-

a) Present the proposed street plan showing space


disposition for the hawkers of Tulinz Road.
b) Get objections and suggestions from the hawkers
and other concerned stake holders
c) Visual documentation and refining of the proposed
plan prior to presenting it to the Municipal authorities
and people’s representatives

Following were present for the meeting-

The points discussed in the meeting based on the


proposal –

1. Hawkers discussed about the one day prior public


meeting organized by the Amdar for resolving various
issues pertaining to Nallsoapra city, in which no
mention for hawker’s redevelopment was made, thus
a need for public participation to present a plan for
Tulinz road (most critical road) to the authorities was
of major concern.
2. Eviction has caused severe damage to their
quality of life, where the proposed plan shows a
stark reorganizing all the hawkers.
3. Proposed plan to be presented as soon as
possible to the people’s representatives
4. Urban management falls in place once the plan is
accepted and the hawker’s are given place to sit as
per the arrangement made near the station area,
under flyover by rearranging the auto-rickshaw stand Refer to Annex K & L for existing
5. Proposed space close to the station is favored by and proposed Plan for Tulinz road
all hawkers in form of hawker’s zone.
