Work Experience
Two Week Work Shadowing Placement - HSBC April 2009
I spent two weeks sitting with members of various teams on the Foreign Exchange trading floor.
Whilst there, I gained an insight into how FX trades are carried out. I gained experience in a
demanding high speed sales driven environment, observing corporate and commercial sales
teams, as well as more technical aspects observing teams dealing with risk hedging strategies.
Also, I gained knowledge of how electronic trades are carried out, after spending some time with
the e-treasury team.
Hall Representative Year 1&2
Karnival (Nottingham University Student Run Charity Organisation)
I spent a year as a member of a close-knit team voluntarily giving our time to organise various
charity events throughout the year, ranging from bar crawls to charity skydives. We balanced the
demands of this voluntary work with that of out courses and other responsibilities. As a team we
would collaborate to run and promote three to four events per week, tailored to suit the variety
of personalities and cultures of Hall residents. Team work is the key, as each voluntary team
member contributed their own specific skills allowing us to exceed our fundraising goals (set by
the Karnival Executive Committee) for the year, as well as making the university experience even
more rewarding for ourselves and for other students.

Food Court Assistant Summer 2008, 2009, 2010

Costco Wholesale - (Cash and Carry Warehouse)
My duties involved preparing and serving food to customers, handling cash, ensuring that food is
prepared properly and adheres to health and safety standards and related tasks such as
maintaining the cleanliness of the food court area. During second spell (2009) I was asked to
stand in for section leader in his absence.

Interests and Activities

I always try to get as much benefit as I can from the activities I do. For example, at university I
was a welfare rep for my Hall’s Junior Common Room Committee (JCR). The role involved me
setting up, planning, promoting and running student welfare events. I also set up and run social
events as part of the Committee role. I am also involved with “Karnival”, the university’s student
run charity organisation, where I regularly helped the running of, and still take part in, charity
fund raising events. This has given me the opportunity to travel around the country, and abroad
(Amsterdam, Dublin, Edinburgh) as well as achieving personal satisfaction in giving something
back to the community whilst enjoying myself at the same time.
Away from university, I am a member of the scout movement, where I am a part of Milton
Keynes Scout Network and an assistant leader. I have also worked backstage with both local
music and theatre groups. I have been part of the lighting crew for local productions, where I set
up light and sound systems.
I also have a clean driving licence.
