PHILOSOPHY OF MAN
DEATH : The Test of Love and The Condition of Liberty

Kat’s Part – Introduction (Greet evryone. Tell our topic – DEATH : The Test of Love and The Condition of
Liberty – Parang narrator ka dito.. nakatayo ka beside the laptop. After ng turn mo pwede ka ng umupo..)

Now Lets start, Death it is the final misfortune for every humankind. It is a loss of life without any issue or
remedy. (parang ganto..)
DEATH – final misfortune, without issue or remedy.
- A loss of life.
Humankind had lots of attitudes when it comes to death..
Different attitudes towards death:
• Denial – denies reality of death (One is Denial, we denies reality that we’ll not experience this kind of
condition)
• Anger – displeasure when talking about death (Next is Anger, we feel anger when talking about death
because we think that it will only bring us bad luck like what chinese do.)
• Depression – extreme sadness (Third is Depression, ofcourse who would be happy for this?)
• Fear – fear of separation (Next Fear of separation, we attach ourselves to everyone that we develop the
feeling of fear when losing them)
• Acceptance – act of taking the truth (Acceptance, Some people accept this matter without any emotions
like stoics and our patron saints, Pope, I guess.)
• Thrill/ Something to enjoy (Lastly, They view death as something to enjoy because they look forward
that life together with God is having a never ending happines. Its like a what we called “Tunay na
kaligayahan”.)

Now Let’s hear from our Patron Saints how they view Life and Death and How come that this death is a test for
love.. (after ng part mo upo ka na. )
DEATH : The Test of Love

Ashley’s Part (Ash, tignan ko kung magagawan kita ng name sa board ha? Yun yung itataas mo every time
you will read each statement.. each statement different name, asahan mo 4 board name ang meron ka, kasi di ba
iba-iba name nila.. para malaman nila na you portray different saints without merely looking at their copy or the
LCD. Parang nagkukwento ka lang dito ng sarili mong buhay. Isipin mo bawat saint ikaw yun.. )
Viewpoint in Life & Death (by Saints)
As a saint like me, we view life as a service to other mankind, it is loving them unconditionally, we are dovoted
by helping them, its makes us happy, we feel pleasure in giving our own hands..
• St. Theresa of the Child Jesus
“I shall pass my heaven in doing good on earth”
(I am Theresa, I would rather stay longer here on land so I can help everyone because I know they much need
my help and God would understand me.)
• St. Teresa of Avila
“ I die because I cannot die”
(I am Teresa from Avila, I offered my life with God in a way that I keep on helping others, I serve them and
love them without any hesitations and that’s how I finally lived with God.)
• St. John
“Come, Lord Jesus, do not tarry” – do not tarry means dont let me wait for long..
(I am John, I accpet my death with a trembling joy and I feel so excited to live with God.)
• St. Paul
“I wish to be dissolved that I maybe with Christ”
(I am Paul, and I just cant wait to be with Christ.)

For us saints,
- Death is a way to be with GOD.
- Love is greater than death. Because I sincerely love God Im willing to risk everything just to be with
Him.
- With authentic saints, the love of Christ can be so intense that, without doing anything to hasten the
moment of their death, they await trembling joy.
How deeply is your love for God, for your family, neighbor, classmate, or someone? Are you willing to
sacrifice your own life just to test your love with them? How about if your death would give them happiness,
are you willing to give it? Can you love unconditionally? And for God, How big can you give for Him? Can
you do what He’ve done to us? Have you ever come to realized it? Think for awhile. And this is how death test
your love. (Kahit hindi mo na i-read o imemorize yung black letters, just get the point of every statement.. Dito
sa last part, say it with feelings, parang nangungunsensya yung dating.. damihan mo na lang yung tanung mo if
you want, basta dapat mapaisip natin sila.. You pause for awhile bago mo bitawan yung last line na “And this
is how death test you love.” )

Jonathan’s Part – Ikaw si Roger Troisfontaines, tulad ni Ash, try ko na magawan ka din ng board name..
Viewpoint in Life & Death (by R. Troisfontaines)
I am Roger Troisfontaines, and for me, I view life as long journey. 
• Man is very limited in his freedom.
• He has not even chosen to exist
• He gradually takes up all the “element” that characterize him. (race, nationality, religious, family,
language, etc,.)
• But he choses the “attitude which will define him.
• Disproportion between his body and his imagination.
• During maturity, we often focus ourselves in our personal value, work, actions and family  “The son
of his work”
• After the soul separate from its body, that’s the only time where everything starts  Real Life.
(These summarize all the bullets.) I believe that every man is free to do his own will but it always remind us
that it is very limited like we dont choose to exist and even deciding what kind of race, nationality, family, or
even religion. But still, those elements will only characterize or marked us. Instead, your attitude will define
the real you because you choose your own attitude. You develop your own traits, skills and intellect as we get
older. We are also the one responsible for deepening our imagination but we should realize that our body and
imagination are very different from each other. Its like between your reality and fantasy or dreams. These
dreams builds our goal that we want to achieve. Resulting that we keep on working so hard just to reach it.
Thats why we called the son of his work, because what we do is for our own benefits, our own sake. After our
soul separates form our body thats the real life.
- Death is not an ending, instead it ia a path. (path to live with God.)
- Eternity becomes reality in us.
- Happiness is measured by union, suffering by rupture.
a. Highest degree of heaven
b. Lowest depth of hell(Because of our too much imagination we see eternity as real thing, we never
see death, we were sink in all pleasure but we didnt know that the real happiness is being united with
heaven. Thats the highest degree of happiness, the heaven while the lowest depth is the hell.)
- Mastering the attitudes in proportion as we attain to spiritual autonomy. (This attitude will help our soul
to take the path that will leads it to the Kingdom of God. Maening that this soul will take the real life, real
journey of life, our body only stands as object to develop our attitude.—nagegets mo ba?)
- It depends on us wheter God is real or inexistent. (Also this attitude helps us to realize wheteher God is
real nor inexistent.)
“I am becoming free, I am not get free in the full sense of the world.”
Humans are not totally free because we still here on earth, we will just obtain the completely freedom
when we have the real life. Gets?

Michelle’s Part

PURGATORY – under a temporal mode.

Two phenomena:
1. Conversion from mediocrity
“ If he remains forever marked by the precocious experience which he has in the family crypt, will become
neither more altruistic nor more religious.” – Sparkenbroken by Morgan

2. Contrary an exacerbation of wanton egoism

“Achieve on the threshold of death.” – Annick by J. Vincent

- Death call forth liberty and reveals the depth of light.

DEATH: The Condition of Liberty

LIBERTY - previledge especially to go freely within specified limits.

• Liberty has no other deep significance than that it permits love.

• Every man is born to his freewill to accept and deepen them.
• Liberty is to imply the possibility of branching off on the way.
• Permits the passage from community to communion.
• Liberty in direction of charity
• Children accepts death because they are scarcely free from the community
• Authentic communion have no fear of death.
• In the fist battle of 1940, those animals who sacrfice themselves for the good of the species.
• Soldiers who express himself to danger to save a companion or to fulfill a mission.

Shortcut ko na lang tong akin ha? Kasi ako na naman po bahala sa speech ko e, but for the sake na may idea
kayo what about Death the Condition of Liberty.. The Bottom Line is, Liberty is act of freedom, we have the
freedom how to take our death. Pwedeng magpakamatay na tayo or idedevelop natin tung attitude natin para at
the end kasama natin si God. Paano natin idedevelop? Through charity works, uniting with other people, tulad
ng ginawa ng mga sundalo at hayop that are stated above. 
