Shyam Sunder admitted his only infant son in a private nursing home. As a result of a strong
dose of medicine administered by the nursing attendant, the child became mentally retarded.
Shyam Sunder made a complaint to the district forum seeking relief by way of compensation
to the extent of 21 lakhs on the ground that there was a deficiency in service by the nursing
home.

Question 1. What is the applicable law for handling the case?
