as a part of the continuous assessment for the Course should be prepared separately as per the format at the
start of the session.
2. Industry oriented academic activity should be encouraged. If the academic activity is organization based,
please specify the organization with respect to the assignment. Absolute theoretical academic assignments,
which involve only copying from the books, should be discouraged. Model *(Method/Pedagogy) used in
allotment and evaluation of the assignments should also be specified in the assignment plans itself.
3. All the students should be given a different topic of assignment, in all cases either the topic of assignment
should be different or the organization on which the assignment is based should be different.

Uses of Pen Drives

USB pen drive is the best among the removable storage devices for its portable and
easy to use features. Flash drives are small but solid devices as they come in highly
durable designs nowadays. Their higher capacities when compared with floppy drive,
CD or ZIP drives make them ideal for transporting large files. As they use advanced
NAND flash technology, they are faster than other storage devices. Since there are no
movable parts inside flash drives, they are quite suitable for causal use and less prone
to damage or such problems. What’s more, they do not require power and their prices
are affordable too.

Flash drives are truly versatile as they have multiple uses and can be used by
employees, students and network administrators.

Backing up and transporting of your personal files

Nowadays, most PC users choose USB Pen drives against CD or floppy drive or ZIP
drive for storing their files, documents, videos, music albums, photos, pictures. As the

increasing. The high capacities of the latest pen drives help the users to store large
files in a compact pen drive and take it to any place they like.

Operating systems like Firefox have introduced bootable software for flash drives so

Windows Vista has also introduced ReadyBoost to help the users to enhance the
system memory using certain flash drives.

Running applications from flash drives

A few software applications can be run from your flash drive instead of installing and
running from your hard drive. SanDisk has developed U3 which supports the running
of many software running from your flash drive.

Used to run PC repair kit

As the latest antivirus and other PC repair kit need higher capacity than a CD, flash
drives have become ideal for storing and running these software during the system
crash or data recovery in a host PC.

Used in Audio players and for storage of music files

Recently, flash drives are used audio players and music storage devices like iPod for
better storage and superior sound output.

Computer games

Certain arcade games, use flash drives for their faster read and write features.
However, Linux based flash drives are used for playing these games.

In schools and other educational institutions

Students and researchers can store lots of information like research data, home work
and school work in their USB pen drives. Since flash drives are compact, easy to
transport and can be used in any computer environment, they are very useful in the
area of education and research.
