List of Experiments
Prerequisite

1. Each student has to individually show a square pulse on CRO without any external input.

HARDWARE EXPERIMENTS

1. Use a 555 timer to generate square wave pules of desired frequency. Verify theoretical frequency with
practical value. Study the effect of variation of supply voltage, biasing resistors and capacitors on the output
wave shape. Discuss your observations and conclusions.

2. Use a UJT to design a relaxation oscillator operating at desired frequency. Verify theoretical frequency with
practical value. Study the effect of variation of supply voltage, biasing resistors and capacitors on the output
wave shape. Discuss your observations and conclusions.

3. Fabricate a single phase half wave diode bridge rectifier and test its performance on no load and load with
capacitor filter and without capacitor filter on resistive, inductive and motor load. Observe voltage waveforms
at different points of the circuit. Discuss your observations and conclusions.

4. Fabricate a single phase full wave diode bridge rectifier and test its performance on no load and load with
capacitor filter and without capacitor filter on resistive, inductive and motor load. Observe voltage waveforms
at different points of the circuit. Discuss your observations and conclusions.
5. Fabricate a 5 or 12 or 15 V regulated power supply and test its performance on no load and load on
resistive, inductive and motor load. Observe voltage waveforms at different points of the circuit. Discuss your
observations and conclusions.

6. Study of Mosfet based chopper circuit operation on R, RL, RLE load. Firing of chopper by hardware and
microprocessor.

7. Study of Transistor based inverter circuit operation. Testing of firing by hardware and microprocessor.

8. Triac based universal motor speed control.

9. Fabrication and study of half- and full-controlled rectifier operation.

SOFTWARE EXPERIMENTS

1. Write a computer program to generate a train of square wave of 5V, 50 Hz for at least 5 cycles.

2. Write a computer program to generate a cosine wave of 5V, 60 Hz for at least 5 cycles.

least five cycles.

5. Write a computer program to generate output voltage wave of a three phase diode bridge rectifier for Vrms-
220 V, Frequency 50Hz for at least two cycles.

II Part

1. Write a program to generate data for plotting the following waveforms.

(10 waveform patterns displayed on the lab notice board)
2. Use MS Excel/Grapher/Lotus or any other graphics package to plot the data.
3. Each waveform should have at least five cycles
4. Extend the program to find the average and rms value of the waveform.
5. Further extend the program to find the co-efficients of fourier series expansion. Hence calculate the harmonic
