Sew the 8 strips into 1 strip set.
Do not press as you sew.
Arrange 8 strips in a pleasing order.
Repeat with second set of
TIP: The 2 outside strips will be barely seen when the
strips – same order.

Choose your 2 favorite strips and set aside for ruffles.
Cut the remaining strips in half at the fold to make 2 sets. 5 6

Divide into 3 sets of 9 segments

Press

(4 pairs + 1 segment)
Place strip sets right sides together – aligning seams.
Cut into 14-1½" segment pairs.
Total 28 segments.
Press each strip set in the opposite direction.

Sew pairs together offsetting the top strip

by 1 square. Press.
Layer pieced stocking front and marked

back right sides together. Pin.
Stitch on marked line leaving top line unsewn.
Trim seam to ¼” and clip curves.
Using a mechanical pencil trace stocking on
wrong side of backing fabric.

Join the 4 pairs offsetting by 1 square.

Offset and add the extra strip. Press.
Repeat with 2 remaining sets of nine.

Turn stocking Join 1–1½"x22” strip of the reserved strips
right side out. together end to end. Press seam open.
Ruffle strip by hand or machine.
Use end of
ballpoint pen Pin and arrange ruffle around top of stocking.
(point retracted) One half of ruffle should stand above top of stocking.

and toe. Top stitch ruffle to top of stocking.
Join ends of cut strip. With right sides
together align edge of sewn strip and Hang with ribbon or metallic cord.

Measure around top edge of stocking. top of stocking. Stitch around top
Add ½” to that measurement. Then cut using a ¼” seam. Turn binding strip
a binding strip to the measured length over edge of stocking. Press edge.
