A variety of technical products is designed today by integrating

mechanical components and electronic hardware into one packaging
unit thus creating true mechatronic solutions. Mechatronic applications
offer amazing and versatile potentials related to functionality, cost,
space requirements and quality. Tyco Electronics contributes to those
applications with its wide range of innovative and cost-effective product
and process technologies.

Examples which are produced today in high volumes are hybrid housings,
housings for hybrid circuits, premolded packages for semiconductor
based sensors and injection moulded leadframes for various automotive
applications.

Advanced stamping, injection molding and assembly techniques are

applied along with highly selective surface plating methods.

TECHNOLOGY

THERMOPLASTIC MOLDING
Loose-piece, manual and highly automated processes or reel-to-reel molding
with a variety of polymers is our daily business. Specialities like hermetic
sealed molding (principle see picture) as well as micro structured sensor
packagings – these are only two examples of a plurality of technologies
engineered in the mechatronic center.

High performance stamping and forming technology for precision leadframes
from micro-structured-design as smartcard up to leadframes of 2.5 mm of
thickness.

P L AT I N G
This technological division employs systems for complete and selective
electroplating of individual parts, semi-finished strips and stamped grids. The
palette of materials includes contact and wire-bond-gold, silver, nickel, wire
bondable nickel, tin and palladium.

In addition to the other technologies stamping, electroplating and plastics,
our emphasis is placed on the assembly technology. Whether small or large
production runs, manually or fully automated
assembly, we design the right assembly concept
and system for our customers respective
application. This includes highly complex and
flexible assembly systems using robotics.
