Twilight Zone Chase Sequence

Task Description
Students will plan, storyboard and edit a Twilight Zone chase scene where the characters enter one
portal and emerge from another. This task requires you prepare and present, in groups, a chase scene,
set to an appropriate soundtrack. The scene must address the key concepts previously studied in class,
in particular the use of pacing and continuity editing techniques. Students will be marked individually
based on their contribution to the task. The grade is a culmination of their involvement throughout the
entire production process from planning to shooting, editing and reflecting.

Criterion B : Application (Maximum 10)


Students are expected to demonstrate the ability to apply the knowledge and understanding of the concepts previously studied in
class. Assessment will be based on how well their chase scene demonstrates :
- Application of the understanding of linear continuity editing;
- Application of the appropriate use of editing techniques;
- Thorough and effective planning and pre-production skills;
- Thorough and effective time management;
- Creativity and resourcefulness in shooting and editing;
An ability to work well alone and as part of a team in the role of either: Writer, Cameraperson, Sound Director or Editor

1-2
- The student shows little or no understanding of linear continuity editing;
- The student shows little or no understanding of editing techniques;
- The student shows poor planning and time management and shows no contribution in the group’s

- The student plays a superficial role in the task.

3-4
- The student understands the linear continuity editing but has difficulty applying this, even with support;
- The student understands the meaning of editing but has difficulty applying the techniques, even with
support;
- The student shows ineffective planning and time management;
- The student shows ineffective attempts to solve problems creatively;
- The student plays a minor role in the task.

5-6
- The student shows a good understanding of how linear continuity editing works and can apply this;
- The student understands how to edit and can apply the different techniques effectively in obvious situations
- The student shows moderate planning and time management;
- The student shows moderate attempt to solve problems creatively;
The student plays an active role in the task.

7-8
- The student shows a thorough understanding of how linear continuity editing works and can apply this
consistently and effectively
- The student understands how to edit their film and can apply the different techniques effectively in a variety
of situations;
- The student shows effective planning and time management;
- The student almost always attempts to solve problems creatively;
- The student plays a committed role in the task.
9-10
- The student shows an outstanding understanding of linear continuity editing and applies this almost
faultlessly
- The student understands how to edit and can apply the different techniques almost faultlessly in a wide
