Thursday Doubles Ace Pot: If no ace is hit, half of the collected money is
donated back to the course and the other half rolls to the next week. FSW guaran-
tees a $25 minimum and the $250 maximum has not been reached in years (because
we are forced to play blue tees too often).
On 5/13 Paul Wharton aced blue #17 with a Wizard disc to win one of our biggest
Thursday ace pots in months, $177. Two weeks later Barry Noakes also aced blue #17
for $44. On 7/15 Digger aced blue #15 and won $106. On 8/12 Ty Parrish aced blue

with a Wraith and won $31.

Yes, me, I do. Namely, JGB’s 16 under par for 18 holes in a
tag round is a more impressive feat at Sedgeley.
The red tee on 5 was the still old tee (just north by northwest

Jason Coef hit a fairway ace to card the first ever 2 on 27 red.

Friends oF sedgley Woods Fight
Pollution and Crime
By CaITlIN BUrNS aND THoMaS DoUGHErTy
Never before has a group been named so aptly. The Friends of Sedgley
Woods are truly friends in the most sincere sense of the word. “All of us
here are good friends and we come together from all walks of life. From
the homeless to millionaires, we are here in Fairmount Park to play a
sport we love, celebrate together and make sure this park is here for future
players,” says Derrick “Turtle” Eason, a regular disc golfer. Most of the
regulars at the Sedgley course have nicknames and the jovial, joking tone
among the players resembles that of a pep rally more than a sporting
competition.
The course at Sedgley Woods is located in East Fairmount Park and is the
second oldest course in the United States. Disc golf uses Frisbee-like discs
that players use to aim for the holes, which are metal cages.
