Platform Art invites your school to

Showcase your students’ talents…

Platform.5 Youth and Art & the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Lakeland’s
Family Fest Student Art Expo have combined their two shows into one!
This newly-combined event will showcase area students’ artistic accomplishments
in the visual arts, film and performance.

Platform.5 Youth and Art is an annual program that showcases area students’
artistic accomplishments. Entries are invited from elementary through senior
high school students.

This event is free for all students and their families.


Platform .5 is an evening full of unique art, interactive fun and entertainment.

Cash Awards are given for:


 Students in the elementary, middle school and senior high school levels;
three cash awards for each level!
 Accompanying Art Programs of winning students (this means your
program!) Last year, $250, $125, $60 awards were given out at each level!
 A People’s Choice Award will be selected by attendees of the event and the
winning performing group will also receive an award for their program.

Participating schools may submit up to 15 total entries
covering the areas of visual/digital art, performing art and
sound.

To participate:
 Return the attached “Intent to Participate” form by December 3, 2010.
 Select a staff person to coordinate your school’s effort for this program…we
encourage the use of technology, music, photography, performance etc. for
this event.
 Select entries for the event; remember to include technology, photography &
music departments.
 Return form listing number of entries you are planning to submit and any
special needs (electricity, sculpture space, etc.)—form will be provided upon
receipt of participation form.

Guidelines for performance art and sound:


 Performance groups may book a rehearsal session the day of the event if
needed.
 Performances may be up to 20-25 minutes in length and will be on the stage
in the sanctuary hall of Oasis Community Church.
 Performances will be scheduled on the hour and half hour from
5:00-7:30 p.m.

Guidelines for visual/digital art:


 Artwork for display needs to be matted or mounted.
 School Staff is needed to help with on-site display set-up of the artwork—
special arrangements can be made if known in advance.
 Artwork needs to be ready for pickup/turn-in by January 22, 2010.
