Diamonte

The INCLUDE Strategy Attachment #1

Identify specific classroom demands and how they pertain to

the lesson you are accommodating for Sped students.

* Physical Organization of the room:

• Desks will be organized into rows at the beginning of class

• During the lesson, students will be asked to work with a partner. At

this point, the students will be able to move the desks in order to best
work with their partner. One of Diamonte’s strengths is that he is a
friendly student. By working with a partner, this will place him in a
situation where he is able to interact with one of his peers.

* Classroom Routines:
• Students will come into class and will be given a packet for the day’s
lesson

• Students will look at the white board for the schedule of the class
period and be attentive. On his IEP, it states that Diamonte would
benefit from providing lists to help organize his day and show him
what he needs to complete. By writing the schedule of activities for
the lesson on the white board, this will greatly benefit Diamonte from
an organizational standpoint

• Students will quietly find their partners for the pair work activities

• Students will raise their hands if they need any teacher assistance
Diamonte

* Classroom climate:
• Pair work will lower the affective filter in the classroom to optimize
amount of learning that occurs.

• Students will use discovery learning to develop rules for –er/-ir

verbs in the preterit. This will lead to a higher level of engagement
since this type of activity requires a higher level of thinking.

• Students will participate in a fun/interactive dice game in order to

practice the new material

• Use of a partner will help Diamonte build connections with other

students and build off his strength as a friendly and social student.

* Behavior Management:
• Use of a parent classroom volunteer to assist Diamonte with
written/reading aspects of lesson

• Use of a parent classroom volunteer to deescalate Diamonte if he

becomes frustrated

• Use of a reward system for completing the activities and homework

assignment on time will motivate Diamonte to hand in the packet on
time. Currently, Diamonte struggles with turning in assignments on
time. Using the reward system can be a method to improve area.

* Use of time:
• Written schedule for class period on the white board will show
student progress during the lesson. This schedule will help Diamonte
see what task he is supposed to be working on during the lesson.

• Teacher announcing how much time is left in class will help students
budget their time during the lesson’s activities

• Teacher will monitor student progress during the lesson by walking

around the classroom.

• If Diamonte appears to be struggling on a certain activity, the

teacher can ask Diamonte to restate the directions. As listed on his
IEP, this is an accommodation that will help to ensure that Diamonte
fully understands what he is supposed to be doing. This will prevent
him from becoming frustrated and wasting time on a particular
activity.
