Meet one of the many fairies created by the world’s pop-up
masters! Designed by Matthew Reinhart and Robert Sabuda, this sheet offers easy instructions for making a pop-up fairy of your own. You’re invited to decorate the fairy in your own personal style, send it as a card, or even make lots of them to create a fairy colony. To discover many other magical residents of the fairy realm, be sure to look for Fairies and Magical Creatures, the dazzling first book in the Encyclopedia Step 5: Apply a small amount of glue to the back Mythologica series. side of tab A and place the tab over glue spot A on the card. Press firmly and allow to dry. Step 1: Print out the card and pop-up pieces. Then color them in with crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Do not color the tabs on the pop-up pieces or the glue spots on the card.
Step 2: Using a ruler as a guide, press the
rounded end of a paper clip along the dotted line down the center of the card. Then do A B
the same along the dotted lines on the pop-
up pieces.
Step 3: Cut out the card and pop-up pieces
along the heavy black outside lines. Step 6: Apply a small amount of glue to the back side of tab B. Slide the fairy’s head piece into the Step 4: Fold the card in half along the scored body piece as shown, and place tab B over glue center fold line. Crease the fold. Then open spot B on the card. Press firmly and allow to dry. up the card again. Then fold, crease, and unfold tabs A and B on the pop-up pieces. Note: If you wish, you can make this pop-up larger by enlarging the printouts.
