Hardware Requirements
The minimum specifications for the computer that the iNEWS Console software will be installed on are as
follows:
CPU 1.0 GHz Pentium III
Memory 256MB RAM
Hard Drive 10GB or larger
Network Card Windows Compatible 10/100 Ethernet
Operating System Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2
Keyboard Standard Windows Keyboard
Mouse Microsoft Compatible Mouse
Monitor 15” SVGA Monitor
USB One USB 1.1 or 2.0 available slot
USB-to-Serial SIIG USG to 4-port Serial (P/N: JU-HS4011)
Modem USA: Provided by iNEWS with purchase of Console Kit
Int’l: Hayes Compatible external modem
The SIIG USB to 4-port serial adapter (SIIG part number JU-HS4011) has been qualified for this
application.
Installing on Windows
This section provides information on installing the iNEWS Console software on a computer running
Microsoft® Windows XP Professional™ and uses a Serial-to-USB device.

Make sure that the new USB-to-Serial COM ports are assigned to COM1-4.
Manual Installation
1. Create a directory for the Console files – C:\Program Files\Avid\Console\
2. Copy all Console files to the new directory from the iNEWS CD
3. Using Windows Explorer, open the C:\Program Files\Avid\Console\dct folder. Select all the files,
right-click, and select Properties. Clear the read-only attribute.
4. Delete keyboard.dct
5. Copy ibmx.kbd and rename the copied file to keyboard.dct
6. Delete videomap.dct
7. Copy color.vid and rename the copied file to videomap.dct
8. Open a Command Prompt- Start->Run> cmd
9. Run the following commands:
a. cd C:\Progra~1\Avid\Console\dct\
b. makemux ..\ -i
c. exit
10. Using Windows Explorer, right-click C:\Program Files\Avid\Console\console.exe and select Properties

Windows 95
