Kind Attn: Dr. Bhosale/ Mr. Borole

Subject : Offer for Mahad CETP feasibility work.

Dear Dr. Bhosale/ Mr. Borole,

As per discussions held at your site with Dr. Bhosale (Chairman) and Mr. Borole
(Plant manager – CETP), and scope of treatability studies mailed by Mr. Borole, we
are pleased to submit our offer for feasibility studies as under:

Our feasibility studies will be done in following 3 Phases:

Phase I: Flow Measurement and Sample Collection.
Phase II: Treatability Studies and Analysis of effluent as per your specific
requirement.
Phase III: Consolidated analytical report preparation for your interpretation
and ETP design modification.

Scope of Work :

PHASE I: Flow Measurement and Sample Collection

• Flow measurement of effluent at the following 5 location:

1. Inlet to CETP Equalisation tank
2. Outlet of Additional Mahad Sump,
3. Sudarshan wastewater
4. Laxmi Organics wastewater
5. Ashok Alco Chem wastewater.
Kindly note that the flow measurement device at all the above locations is to
be provided by you.

• Collection of 24 hrs Composite effluent sample from following locations:

1. Inlet of CETP
2. Outlet of CETP.
3. Sudarshan sampling point
4. Laxmi Organics sampling point
5. Ashok Alco Chem sampling point
6. Inlet of CETP but without effluent of Sudarshan, Laxmi Organics & Ashok
Alco Chem industries.

• Duration of Phase I: approximately 7 days.

(We would prefer flow measurement to be done even during rainy season in
order to ascertain the amount of dilution water entering CETP from storm water
drain. This will give us an idea about reduced hydraulic retention time during
rainy season)

PHASE II: Treatability Studies and Analysis of effluent

 Analysis of 24 hrs Composite effluent sample collected from the above

mentioned location for the following parameter: pH, TSS, TDS, COD, BOD,
Chlorides, TKN, Phosphates.

 Treatability studies will be done in 3 stages viz:

1. Primary Treatment
2. Secondary Treatment
3. Tertiary Treatment

PRIMARY TREATMENT:
 Primary treatment will be done on the representative 24 hrs composite effluent
sample collected from the following location:
1. All the composite effluent collected.
2. Inlet of CETP such that the effluent is without Sudarshan, Laxmi Organics,
Ashok Alco Chem industries wastewater.
3. Effluent from Sudarshan, Laxmi Organics, Ashok Alco Chem mixed in
proportion.
 Primary treatment will include addition of coagulant and flocculant
followed by sedimentation. The effectiveness of treatment will be decided based
on the analysis result of TSS, COD and BOD of the supernatant effluent.
 The flocculant addition include:
1. Lime to pH 8.5 followed by Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) to pH 7.5 +
Polyelectrolyte.
2. PAC to pH 5.5 followed by lime to pH 7.5 + PE.
3. Lime to pH 8.5 followed by Ferrous Sulphate (FeSO4) to pH 7.5 +
Polyelectrolyte.
4. FeSO4 to pH 5.5 followed by lime to pH 7.5 + PE
 The amount of chemicals required and volume of
chemical sludge generated will be recorded for each sets.

 The best treated sample will be used for Secondary
treatment.
 The treatment will be studied in 3 sets for each chemical
addition.

SECONDARY TREATMENT
 Secondary ‘activated sludge’ treatment process will be done on laboratory scale
model using the best treated effluent from Primary process as per designed
parameters to obtain maximum reduction in BOD/COD.
 Designed parameters for activated sludge process are as follows: (as per your
requirement)
1. MLSS 4000mg/L
2. DO: ~1 mg/L
3. BOD:N:P ratio = 100:5:1
 The activated sludge will be developed and acclimatized with the
effluent to obtain the above desired parameter value.
 The sample will be collected after every 24 hrs, 48 hrs & 72 hrs
after proper acclimatization of biological sludge and the collected sample will be
analysed for COD & BOD.
 The excess sludge will be drained daily to maintain the desired
MLSS and MLVSS value.
 The biological treatment will be done in 3 sets for each effluent
collected.

TERTIARY TREATMENT:
 The supernatant from biological treatment after 72 hrs will be subjected to
tertiary treatment.
 Tertiary treatment will include addition of coagulant and flocculant followed by
sedimentation. The effectiveness of treatment will be decided based on the
analysis result of TSS, COD and BOD of the supernatant.
 The flocculant addition include:
1. Lime to pH 7.5 followed by Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) to pH 5.5 +
 The amount of chemicals required and volume of chemical sludge
generated will be recorded for each sets.

 The best treated sample will be treated with sodium hypochlorite
solution such that a residual chlorine concentration of 0.5 mg/L is maintained
after a contact period of 30 min.
 Analyse the clarified effluent for COD, BOD and TSS
 The amount of Hypochlorite required and sludge generated will be
recorded.
 The treatment will be studied in 3 sets for each chemicals addition.
 Duration for Phase II:
1. Analysis – 2 days.
2. Primary Treatment – 4 days
3. Secondary treatment – 16 days
4. Tertiary treatment – 6 days.

5. Total (for 1 set) – 28 days.

6. Total (for 3 sets) – 84 days.

PHASE III: Feasibility report preparation.

 Report preparation will include following points:

1. Average Flow of effluent at the specified location (per hr & per day).
2. Analysis result of the raw effluent sample.
3. Primary treatment result and conclusion including:
a) Data: Amount of chemicals consumed, Sludge generated.
b) Analysis Result: COD & TSS of raw and treated sample for each
chemical test.
c) Conclusion: The best Coagulant and Flocculant giving maximum
reduction in COD & TSS after primary treatment.
4. Secondary Treatment result including:
a) Data: Record of excess sludge drained per day to maintain desired
MLSS.
b) Analysis Result: MLSS, MLVSS & DO in aeration tank and COD, BOD of
clarified effluent.
5. Tertiary Treatment result and conclusion including:
a) Data: Amount of chemicals consumed, Sludge generated
b) Analysis Result: COD & TSS of raw & treated effluent for each set of
chemicals added, residual chlorine conc., BOD & COD in final treated
effluent
 The analysis results will be reported in a tabular form and will be submitted to
you for future action.
 Duration of Phase III: 15 days.
