Remember in kindergarten when your teacher would ask for someone in

the class to volunteer to say the ABC’s for everyone. Your hand was the
first one to go up. You knew your alphabet; you and your mom had gone
over it again and again. You wanted to be the one who answered so badly
that you waved your hand in the air and jumped up and down while
shouting “Me! Me! Pick Me!” It is with the same eagerness that each of us
should be willing to tell others about Christ.

1. “15a But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.”


– The first step in being an effective witness for Christ isn’t being the center
of attention; it’s putting Christ at the center. The most important part of
telling your friends about Jesus isn’t about how noticed we are in public, but
how noticed we are in private. Every point of ministry stems from this truth.
Just as you would study your alphabet daily with your mom, you need to
daily study the Bible with your Heavenly Father.
2. “15b…Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks…”
– How do we become prepared? By daily choosing to live for Christ and
allowing His Spirit to guide and direct all that we do. Be sure to listen to the
questions that the people around you are asking, write them down, and ask
God to give you answers for them.
3. “15d…But do this with gentleness and respect.”
– More than what you say, it’s about how you say it. Gentleness and
respect are two very important words to remember when reaching your
