Nan’s News
Joy is in the air...it’s December...Christmas will soon be here...the excited anticipation of
watching children is joy within itself... I love to watch their faces and wish I could know what is pass-
ing through their minds. I suspect the expressions are pretty close to the thoughts. My friend told me
the other day that her three year old was so excited to know that Christmas was Jesus’ birthday that
she could not wait to go to ―school‖ and tell her teacher...now to just remember that is what the joy is
all about.

Gee what an interesting year 2010 has been, one filled with many changes, some great, and
others I could have done without, but as I walked through those valleys with my brightly tabbed
Bible leading me immediately to verses of healing and hope, I captured incredible peace. Therefore, I
had a swift recovery from chest surgery to remove a mass from behind my breastbone and one in my
lung. Credit for my swift recovery is also attributed to my prayer warriors—and to my wonderful
nurse— Jack took such good care of me. In fact, I thought I was ready to go after about 10 days—but
the nursing police, as I lovingly dubbed my care-giver, reigned me in. He was right...as he always is.

In anticipation of a new year and new beginnings , I’m giving life to an old dream that I put
on a shelf a couple years ago. It will take me a while to get all my thoughts back together, but it is
worth the commitment to use my creative energies to accomplish. Do you have a dream that you let
go by the wayside for one reason or another? I encourage you to rekindle the desire. I’m believing
―it can happen‖. I’m going to live LARGE….join me...

May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace, The gladness of Christmas give you hope, the warmth
of Christmas grant you love...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

HUMMMM….Xmas or Christmas?
Food for thought…….
Contrary to many Christian’s belief (and mine), the word
Xmas is not sacrilegious or irreverent. The letter ―X‖ is the first letter
of Christ’s name in Greek and has often been used as a holy symbol.
―Xmas‖, this abbreviation of Christmas is of Greek origin. The
Word for Christ in Greek is ―Xristos‖. The ―X‖ is the Greek letter Chi
(sounds like ‖ki‖) which has a ―k‖ sound. Hence Xristos is pro-
nounced ―Christ‖ in modern English. During the 16th century,
Europeans began using the first initial of Christ’s name, ―X‖ in place
of the word Christ in Christmas as a shorthand form of the word.
Although the early Christians understood that X stood for Christ’s
name, later Christians who did not understand the Greek language
mistook ―Xmas‖ as a sign of disrespect...as many do today.

I'D BRING THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER TO EVERYONE -- AND THIS INCLUDES YOU
BUT CHRISTMAS DAY IS ALL ABOUT JOY
AND THE CELEBRATION IS ALL ABOUT THAT LITTLE BABY BOY

SO IF YOUR STOCKING IS NOT FULL AND YOUR DINNER IS A FEAST

BELIEVE -- BELIEVE IN JESUS AND BE FILLED WITH PEACE
LOVE MAKES EACH YEAR A LITTLE BETTER THAN THE ONE JUST BEFORE
AND WITH JESUS IN OUR HEARTS WE'LL NEVER BE POOR!

IF I WERE SANTA CLAUS, THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO

I'D GIVE EVERYONE THE GIFT OF FAITH -- AND THIS INCLUDES YOU
BUT TO EACH ONE WHO HAS BEEN GIVEN THE MEASURE OF FAITH
SO, BELIEVE -- BELIEVE IN GODS'S MEASURE OF GRACE,

NOW IF YOU HAVE THE BLAHS AND SAY BAH HUMBUG

I AM PRAYING THAT YOU GET A BIG CHRISTMAS HUG,
THEN YOUR EYES WILL TWINKLE AS THOUGH THEY WERE STARS
AND THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS WILL BE SPREAD AFAR,

IF I WERE SANTA CLAUS, I'D BE SURE YOUR CHRISTMAS WAS WHITE

AND I WOULD BRING YOU PJ'S TO KEEP YOU WARM AT NIGHT
BUT I AM NOT SANTA CLAUS NOR WOULD I WANT TO BE
BUT I AM A BELIEVER AND SOMEDAY --HIS FACE I'LL SEE
