TO GOD BE THE GLORY

When we consider the physical creation that is the handiwork of God through His Son, and we combine that
consideration with all the awe and reverence we have for the spiritual creation – the church – that is the
handiwork of Jesus Christ fulfilling the plan that His father had from the foundation of the world, it is only then
that we fully realize indeed to God be the glory!

I. BY THE WISDOM AND DESIGN OF GOD, THE MYSTERY IS REVEALED TO ALL.

A. The gospel – the mystery, secret from the foundation of the world – is made known to all for the
obedience of faith to the glory of God through Jesus Christ.
1. Rom 16:25-27 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the
preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world
began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of
the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory
through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

B. God’s plan for a spiritual Israel [the church], all of whom shall be saved.
1. Rom 9:6-8 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which
are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy
seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but
the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

2. Gal 3:6-9 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye
therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture,
foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham,
saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful
Abraham.

3. Rom 11:26-12:2
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn
away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for
the fathers' sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his
judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Rom 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
a. The allness and completeness of God – His wisdom, His knowledge, His judgments, His ways that
led to Creation of all things – bring Him glory for eternity. All those obedient and faithful to the end

will also be there with Him for eternity – to His, and to their, glory. Their glory – our glory – is only
a reflection of His glory.
II. BECAUSE OF THE LOVE OF GOD, THE ONLY ACT THAT COULD SAVE US WAS DONE.
A. “So.”
1. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2. 1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought
to lay down our lives for the brethren.

3. Gal 1:1-5 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father,
who raised him from the dead;) And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself
for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our
Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
a. Jesus Christ gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil world, by the will of
God, to His glory forever and ever. That it is even possible is to the glory of God.

III. BECAUSE OF THE GRACE AND THE WISDOM OF GOD, WE HAVE THE CHURCH.
A. The church is to the glory of God.
1. Eph 3:1-21
1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles
and prophets by the Spirit;
6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the
gospel:
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual
working of his power.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles
the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world
hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the
church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in
the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of
God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

a. The design of the church, the plan for the church, the work of the church, the price of the church,
the members of the church, all these are to the glory of God forever and ever.
B. God, by and through His gospel and His church, shall supply our every need.
1. 2 Cor 9:6-11
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall
reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God
loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may
abound to every good work:
9(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown,
and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

2. Phil 4:15-20
15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no
church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.
16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you,
an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

C. God supplies all the needs of His own and this redounds to His glory. When we put Him first, all things
redound to our glory – which, again, is a reflection of His glory.
1. Matt 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly
Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

2. Rom 8:28-32 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to
them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did
predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also
justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If
God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all,
how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
