Armaflex is a very efficient low-temperature insulation, preventing condensation and

reducing energy loss. Importantly, the closed-cell structure of this elastomeric foam
provides a built-in barrier to water vapour. Closed cell insulation has a discrete,
non-interconnected cellular structure. It is not porous, because cells have sealed walls
which inhibit moisture migration or wicking inside the insulation. The multi-layered structure
can’t be compromised by surface punctures or tears.
Fire rated

FR/Armaflex is designed to meet stringent fire-performance standards. Independent laboratories

are used to assess its fire-hazard properties, ensuring compliance with current legislation. This
ensures certification is up-to-date and materials comply with changes in legislation.
In Australia, the technical requirements for building design are regulated by reference to the
Building Code of Australia. These requirements include the fire-hazard properties of building
materials.
The Building Code of Australia (2006) provides a fire specification for fire testing of materials:
Specification A2.4 (Fire Hazard Properties). This requires that materials are tested under the
standard AS/NZS 1530.3, and meet stringent requirements for indices of both Spread-of-Flame
and Smoke-Developed.
FR/Armaflex complies with the fire-hazard requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA)
2006 for components used in all Class 2 to 9 buildings, other than for areas deemed as Fire
Isolated Exits.
In New Zealand, the requirements for building design are regulated by reference to the New
Zealand Building Code as prepared by the Department of Building and Housing. This includes
specific requirements for indices of both Spread-of-Flame and Smoke-Developed, to which
FR/Armaflex is compliant.
Armacell Australia conduct a continual monitoring program to ensure its products meet the
rigorous standards required for today’s building industry. Products are subjected to on-going
testing by AWTA Limited, Australia’s largest independent textiles and fire testing laboratory.
AWTA is accredited by NATA to the international standard for laboratory performance, ISO
17025 and certified to ISO 9001.

Environmental standards
• Zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) - Armaflex is manufactured
without CFCs, HFCs or HCFCs, to provide a high-standard of environmental
compliance and meet regulations for Green Building design.
• Zero Global Warming Potential (GWP) - Armaflex insulation is manufactured
with blowing agents that do not contribute to global warming.
• Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) – Armaflex insulation is low VOC,
with no-off-gassing, which means faster building occupancy and compliance
with modern building regulations.
• Low VOC Adhesives - Armacell provides low-VOC adhesives for the joining of insulation,
ensuring all components of the system meet modern standards for construction sites.

Developed to minimise smoke and toxic emissions in the event of fire

NH/Armaflex is the halogen free, flexible elastomeric, insulation mate-

rial with certification for use in marine and offshore environments.
It meets the demand for an environmentally-friendly insulation
material with minimal smoke and toxic emissions in the event of a fire.
NH/Armaflex provides protection against diffusion of water vapour, as
a closed cell material, and features all the properties which you can
expect from a flexible insulation material, such as low thermal con-
ductivity.

» Free from halogen based flame retarders

» Suitable for use in marine and offshore environments
» Suitable for computer server rooms and clean rooms
» Excellent thermal conductivity
» Built in vapour barrier prevents condensation
