The four-year term of the existing Council (10th) will expire on 18.1.2011. For
the purpose of constituting the 11th Council on 19.1.2011, the election to the
Council and four Regional Councils of the Institute will be held as per the
notifications given below. The notifications contain all matters required for
conduct of elections.

The Returning Officer and Secretary & CEO of the Institute of Company Secretaries
of India, in pursuance of Section 9(2) (a) of The Company Secretaries Act, 1980 as
amended, (the Act) read with Rules 3 & 4 and other applicable Rules of The
Company Secretaries (Election to the Council) Rules, 2006, (the Rules) and the
Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982 (the Regulations) is pleased to notify the
following for the conduct of elections to the Council and Regional Councils in the
year 2010.

The Council in exercise of the powers vested under Sub-rule (1) of Rule 41 of
the Company Secretaries (Election to the Council) Rules, 2006 has fixed the
following ceiling of expenditure to be incurred by the Candidate for the Council
/ Regional Council Election :-
Pursuant to Sub-rule (2) of Rule 41 every candidate for the Council/ Regional
Council Elections shall file an account of expenses incurred for the election in
the format approved by the Council within fifteen days of Notification issued
under Rule 36. Formats as approved by the Council have been printed in the
Journal and also available on the website.
Pursuant to Sub-rule (3) of Rule 41, a member shall be deemed to have brought
disrepute to the Council under Item (2) of Part IV of the First Schedule of the
Company Secretaries Act, 1980 if, in connection with an election to the Council
of the Institute, he is found to have contravened the provisions of sub-rule (1) or
Sub-rule (2).
