Private & Public Cloud

Research Question :
To analyze various aspects of Private and Public Cloud and determine which have to be preferred for
more reliable and security reasons

Outline (Overview) :
Investigate and analyse the models of cloud computing i.e. Private Cloud and Public Cloud.

Cloud Computing helps enterprises transform business and technology providing a platform
for growth and innovation that's secure and reliable. But the efficiency and security of this
architecture declines when the data storage and data transmission increases. All the resources
such as applications and data will be stored in the Cloud Storage.

In cloud computing, cloud storage is now a new concept. The data available in the cloud
storage must be secure and well managed. Hence enterprises have to choose any one model
for cloud computing. Cloud Computing basically provides two models for the deployement of
its services i.e. Private Cloud and Public Cloud. Public cloud is the service which is provided to
any Consumer over the Internet, global availability of data whereas Private cloud is the service
provided with in an organization with firewall and control structures. An organization can use
any one of these model. The selection for any one dependents upon various parameters such
as investment, size of data storage, longevity, access to data and performace. By measuring
these parameters an organization can make best selection for the model.

Private Clouds, sometimes also called as internal cloud, are managed and owned by the
organization for their own purpose. They use this cloud storage for deploying their application
services within the organizational unit. With the increase in the demand for storage they can
add multiple nodes or disk storage.

Public cloud, which is external cloud, that is, open for use to the public, cannot be managed
easily and need to pay more for additional storage they required. But here they dont require any
software and hardware investment.

The main focus of this research is about cloud computing and its models. This results out in
understanding the actual benifit or merits of private and public cloud in terms of reliability,
security, cost, longetivity, quality.

The research question "To analyze various aspects of Private and Public Cloud and determine
which have to be preferred for more reliable and security reasons" will be studied using
quantitative research.This research design will be based on descriptive survey as the research
aims at collecting data and analyzing it. The advantage of obtainig this method is highly
exploratory.

Questions related to this research:

How we can provide security to Public, since Private cloud is controllable?

Which one is reliable for small organization?
How an enterprise can start up with Private cloud at low cost?

Objectives (The Project will) :

The objective of the research is to make out the complete explainatory, survey data and
questionnaire respondents. It will also outline the benefits and potential
drawbacks of Private Cloud and Public Cloud. The project will focus on how and when to select
public and private cloud. It will analyse and evaluate its impact through Data Storage and its
Cost Effectiveness. Therefore new and innovative solutions for selecting data storage will
emerge.

Identifying the advantages and disadvantage of private and public cloud will help an
organization for providing high-secured data both on the Internet and the Intranet. This will also
help an organization to select their cloud model based on their capabilities

At last, we on the stage where we can easily answer for the question provided in the
research i.e. What we have to prefer based on the reliability and security for an organization.
The research will enhance the future research. This research will be about more advancement
in business and technical aspect. In future, the cloud computing will not be just for the
implementation of services, it will be the implementation of marketing, business, and various
hands.

Relationship to Course (and Stream) :

The course/module m-business which i have studied in my PGD programme is one of the
most important module because it is completely related to IT field.
