SAN GABAN IV Ollachea Hydropower Project H17

Description: It consists of a run of river hydroelectric power plant of 225.3 MW and it will produce an average net annual generation of 1,381 GWh.
It is located in the Macusani river, province of Carabaya, Department of Puno in Peru.

Current Status: Projects Benefits:

Earliest project start date: 2010.
Operation start date: 2013.
Project lifetime: 50 years.
Current status: Feasibility study finished (available). The EIA and ar-
chaeological impact studies under elaboration. Temporary concession
for the water use was given 2008. PIN is finished. PDD under elabora-
tion.
Estimated Annual Emission Reductions (tCO2/year):
An average of 746,000 tCO2-equivalent per year.
Number of direct and indirect jobs generated:
The project generates about 125 direct and 250 indirect new jobs.
Sustainable development contribution: Replaces thermal power plants;
allows rural communities to improve their economic activities; creates
new jobs; triggers economic growth of the country by supplying more
energy to the national grid.

MANCAHUARA Hydropower Plant H18

Description: It is a small project that consists in the rehabilitation of an old abandoned hydropower plant. Once the rehabilitation of the plant is finished,
the total power will be 2.5 MW, and the expected energy generation would be 15 GWh. It is located in Apurimac Department in Peru.
