My house in twenty years

inspired by my ances-
tor’s traditional Ko-
rean house.

It has a transparent
southern wall for natu-
ral light and warmth,
one unified living space
for sense of community,
pockets of rooms for
privacy, and finally,
access to greenroof.

An installation proj-

By pulling out the ivy

from where once used to
be a stream, I was able
to reveal the histori-
cal landscape. To empha-
size the shape and the
depth, I marked the re-

red ribbons to reflect a
stream of water drain-
ing down toward the San

Long Section at 1”=64’-0” Cross Section at 1” = 8’-0” Perspective

The concept of the me-

morial allows the visi-
tors to experience dis-
orientation to relief,
the feelings the tsunami
brings to people.

The disorientation to
relief is experienced as
the visitos walk through
a narrow concrete path
that has concrete walls
placed in a manipulative
manner controlling the
views of the visitors.
The path eventually
leads the visitors to
where there is nothing
but a view toward the
pacific ocean--relief
and peace.

A city block between

Oak, Fell, Octavia, and
Laguna Street in San
Francisco used to be a
housing block but be-
came a base for a free-
way ramp. However during
the 1989 earthquake, the
freeway collapsed.

Today, the block has a

footprint of the freeway
on and off ramps.

The project was to de-

sign a city block park
with given required pro-
grams.

The course was all about

measuring existing land-
scape design details and
draw it out with correct
lead labels like Auto-
CAD.

Through this course, I

became more curious and
observant of the details
in the landscape such
as paving materials and
brick patterns.

producing a full ren-

plan rendering.

At the firm, I also re-

For Environmental Science Planning

and Management class, we were to write
papers but I discussed with the pro-
fessor to do an independent research
and create a pictorial essay.

The essay determines a critical loca-

for mountain lions near Berkeley,
CA. Also, it proposes a design of
the bridge which will be a four way
greenroofed dome-like bridge.

The project was to de-

sign a “maze” for Pa-

courtyard located north
of Berkeley campus.
The existing courtyard
is disorienting with odd
building angles.

The concept for my maze

was to create accelerat-
ed perspectives through
triangular black granite
pool with an alley of
white European birches.

By having a central
movement in the court-
yard, the space is visu-
ally more oriented.

we were to choreograph

Cross Section Perspective at 1”=40’-0” I created a movement

predicts people’s move-

where people will pause,
where they will turn,
and how they will feel
by walking through that
space.

The project was to

redesign a flower
garden for the San
Francisco Conser-
vatory of Flow-
ers in Golden Gate
Park.

The way we ap-

proached it was
through animating
the landscape. We
placed ourselves
in the design to
figure out the best
design.

My concept was hav-

ing a flower garden
that is sustainable
in terms of water
runoff reuse.
