ACST201 LEARNING PORTFOLIO (2008): Task 4

This document describes Task 4 (the last of the four tasks for 2008), and explains the general submission
details. Submit your Learning Portfolio Tasks during Week 12 of second semester.

Task 4: REFLECTING ON YOUR LEARNING IN ACST201

Write at least 600 words (but preferably not more than 2 pages) reflecting on your experiences of learning in
ACST201 this semester. Some of the things you might discuss include those in the following list (but you
can mention anything at all that’s influenced your learning or that you have thought about):

• How do you know when you have understood a new idea or concept or technique?
• How did your learning in ACST201 compare with what you expected it to be like?
• How did your learning in ACST201 compare with your learning in other subjects?
• How did you approach your studying in ACST201?
• How well do you feel you understand the basic financial ideas and concepts in ACST201?
• How was your learning affected by (or what did you think of):
- the workshops?
- the In-Class Tests?
- the Tutorial Tests (and the tutorials generally)?
- the feedback you received on your learning?
- the Perdisco e-workbook?
- the ACST201 Blackboard site?
- the Learning Portfolio tasks and working as part of a team?
• What do you think of being able to take into the tests and final exam an A4 sheet with anything you like
written or printed on it?
• How do you feel about the grading approach in ACST201, using letter grades instead of marks?
• Are there any other aspects of your learning in ACST201 you’d like to reflect on?

Please use MSWord, with font size Arial 12, to write your Task 4 submission. As a rough guide, 600 words
is round about 1½ pages in Arial 12 font, but you can write more if you wish.

Grading of your Learning Portfolio

Just two of the four tasks will be graded – one of the three group spreadsheet tasks (the same one for
everybody), and the individual reflective writing task (Task 4). The spreadsheet task to be graded will be
announced after you have submitted your Learning Portfolio.

Task 4 grading criteria (How will we grade your reflective writing?)

For Task 4, there are no "right" or "wrong" responses, so your submission for Task 4 will be graded
"Satisfactory" or "Unsatisfactory" according to whether or not what you write shows evidence that you have
reflected on (thought carefully about) your own experience of learning in this subject. If your first submission
is "Unsatisfactory", you will be asked to rewrite and resubmit Task 4 until it is “Satisfactory”. A grade of
“Satisfactory” for Task 4 is necessary for a passing grade overall in ACST201.

Submitting your Learning Portfolio tasks (http://www.efs.mq.edu.au/current/ug/eric)

When: Any time you like during the period from normal ERIC opening time on Monday, 3 November until
normal ERIC closing time on Friday, 7 November, 2008.

How: Hand in your group portfolio (consisting of the output requested for each of the three group
spreadsheet Tasks 1, 2 & 3), all stapled together behind a completed and signed group cover sheet (which
you can download from the above ERIC web page). Hand in your individual Task 4 stapled behind a
completed and signed individual cover sheet (also available on the above ERIC web page).

Please do not enclose any submissions in a plastic cover or a folder or a binder of any kind.
